I have a 2011 iMac 21.5" that has a wired internet connection to a Fios wired and wireless modem/router. For some reason, my internet connection is always down when I jump on my computer. It comes back on within 60 seconds or so, but I'm tired of waiting for it.

Can someone tell me why my computer is dropping it's internet connection? I have wifi turned off, so it shouldn't be looking for a network.

Are you on Mountain Lion by any chance? I've noticed this issue as well on my 2011 iMac since upgrading - never saw this in Lion.

One roundabout way of fixing it is to never set the Mac to sleep...it takes care of the issue, but I don't know if it's worth the additional power used.
