Hi everyone, i'm having some trouble with my internet connection and couldn't find any information on it. Heres the problem, I recently moved and my roomate has a d-link WBR-2310 router. The macbook pro connects fine with it but it will randomly stop working. The internet still says its connected but if I try to go to any website it will just keep saying its loading with no results. I can do a quick restart and its good again for another 10-30 minutes. I'm runing a 15.4 Macbook pro 2ghz Core 1 duo with 2 gig ram version 10.4.10. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Is the signal being dropped at all by the MBP? It is a known issue for the MBP to sometimes drop a WiFi signal.

It also depends upon the lease time the router gives to connected peers - it might be configured incorrectly and disconnect you after a set time.

Unless you are on auto-reconnect then you'll be left disconnected.

I have the same problem as you. I think its due to 10.4.10, but I'm not too sure. My internet drops all the time but the icon up in the menu bar doesn't show a dropped connection. I don't know how to solve your problem since I have it too but all I can tell you is that you might not need to restart your mac every time, just turn off airport and then turn it back on and it should work again. I was suspecting the router too, I use a dlink also, so maybe it could be the router... but my model is a 524 model.

When I lose the internet connection it still says i'm connected to the internet. It seems to only happen when i'm using the D-Link router.

Thanks for the information i'm gonna have my roomate check the settings on the router, it is his. Also thanks for telling me about resetting the airport i'll be sure to try it.

I was JUST about to post this same issue.
I 'm having the issue with my macbook.
It never used to happen before as it worked fine for about 7 months.
Just recently over the past few weeks the same issue is happening.

The wireless connection still says connected but the pages dont load and the connection is not there.
To fix it I have to click on the wireless icon and then click on the name of my network and then it starts working again.

Sometimes it happens every few minutes, other times it works fine for half an hour but it's really getting annoying.
Any idea what I should try?
Btw, this does not happen on my desktop or my wife's sony vaio laptop so it is def an issue with my macbook.

I dont understand why it started happening all of a sudden but it's the exact same issue you guys are having.
I'm hoping there is a fix.

So what settings should I be looking for in the router setup?
    i'm using a linksys wrt54g.
If it was a timeout problem wouldn't that be happening to the other computers on my network?'

Nothing to do with Macs, this post, but I've had experience with both 524 and 624 D-Link routers. Both dropped my Windows PC and Nintendo DS randomly. After several long hours trying to find and fix the problem, both cases eventually disappeared after reinstalling the latest router firmware (which was already the presently installed one).

Just throwing it out there, D-Link routers aren't always that stable, so it might not be a problem with your MacBook. (Still, it might just as well be)

    Even weirder issue now.
I can't even access my routers setup page from my macbook!
It just says waiting for 192.168.......
And i'm still using the internet at the same time so the net is working right now.

However I just tried on my wife's laptop and I got to the setup page without a problem.

    What's going on?!

I only had the problem start after I upgraded to 10.4.10. Did anyone else's start with 10.4.10? I might just reinstall os x and leave it at 10.4.9 and see if it still happens.
