It's pretty crazy what the effect of being able to have a webpage's main content fill the whole screen, with no peripheral vision of a keyboard. On a regular computer, there are always little side ads or links that try and draw you to other things and while you can zoom into the screen, it's not nearly the same experience as a quick double tap and then using your hands to nagigate vs a mouse or trackpad...you are actually touching the article here like in a magazine or book.

Here is an example of a site I was reading earlier, a normal computer view first then an iPad view (which by the way the screenshots were rotated, resized, and uploaded to my server all from the iPad).

I've done a bit of surfing on my dad's iPad and I really like it. Almost more immersive (and definitely more convenient) than using a regular computer.

I noticed the "magazine/Newspaper" feel to the Internet, too. I love it!

Also loving the Instapaper app on the iPad...almost all articles can be displayed in a textual format. It's great.

Ya, there is something intuitive about surfing the web from iPad. I really like it. I haven't touched my laptop all day.

I agree...surfing the Internet on the iPad is buttery smooth and a joy to behold. I have no desire to use my 27 inch iMac other than video editing etc.

When Steve said that it was like holding the internet in your hand and very intimate I was like oh yeah ok... But after getting my iPad and using the browser and then going back to the computer it really is right there in your hands and it is more intimate and your immersed in it.

I found the best part about web surfing on the iPad is the much more ergonomic hand/wrist position. I have developed a sore wrist and arm from using laptop on my bed/couch a couple hours nightly for the last 10 years.

I agree surfing the Internet on the iPad is a intimate experience, different than how I've been doing it the last 15 years. I think the analogy to a book or magazine is a good one. It's like you are actually looking at a piece of paper with the Internet displayed on it, and you can touch it and move it around to how you want it.

To me, Safari is the killer app on the iPad.
