Internet only works in specific applications

Hey guys, so i noticed that my internet, while working just fine in firefox, refuses to work in mail or ichat. Also, i have only found one page that refuses to load (the most important of course) which is edline.net. Has anyone had this problem before? Thanks ahead of time!

I assume you actually mean that webpages load in Firefox, but you cannot connect to AIM and Mail doesn't find whatever mail server you're using.

Are both configured correctly?

modem/firewall issue? ie certain ports blocked?
