I just migrated from an older iMac to a new I3 iMac. Everything seems to be going well with the new one except a few registration problems, etc.

What's really odd, though, is that my internet download speed has plummeted to about 2Mbps from around 24 (I have uverse). I'm using ethernet connected to an Airport Extreme connected to a residential gateway. The odd thing is that when I boot up the old iMac it too has slowed down to the 2Mbps speed. Meanwhile, both a MBP and other devices still get the higher speed, using wifi from the Airport Extreme. An older Mac hooked up via ethernet directly to the gateway gets the higher speed too. So it's not my connection, not my gateway, and not the Airport Express.

The old iMac is connected via wifi, the new iMac via ethernet. I get slow speeds even if one is disconnected from the network. I've restarted, and checked to see each has different IP addresses; they do.

I cannot figure this out. Suggestions?

I tried a variety of things, including the new location. What seemed to do the trick was to rename the iMacs again. No problem since then.
