Hi all, when I bought my new 3.06 12 core machine, I gave my son my old 2008 2.8 quad core. I recently upped our internet speed to 100Gbits. I get more than that on my 2012, but my son is only getting between 15-20. What gives?

    Are you wired or wireless?

If wireless, is the line of sight to the router obstructed? What's in between?

If wired, have you tried swapping ethernet cables?

I had an experience of slow wired internet on my 2010 Mac Pro. When I switched to wireless, the speed became normal.

I did not figure out the cause with the wired network. I also called the Apple Tech Support but did not get any workable solutions from them.

Before you find out the cause, try wireless and see if you can get a reasonable speed.

There is no place in the world that offers 100Gbps to your house. Google only offers 1Gbps.

First test would be to connect your Mac up to the same connection as the 2008 and see if you get the same slow speeds or not. If you do then it's something between the computer and your router. If you don't then it's something with the Mac.

    Process of elimination. :)
