    Hi All,

I'm trying to update my iPhone to the latest OS, but I consistently have the same problem. Every time my MacBook goes to sleep or the screensaver kicks in, the internet connection times out, and the iPhone OS download has to be started all over again. This wouldn't be a problem except that I'm on a really crappy, slow connection; and I don't want to have to sit in front of my laptop for hours (yes, hours) it can sometimes take to download the 230MB, especially when I make to 200MB and have to start all over again ...

Is there any way that interrupted iPhone updater downloads can be resurrected on iTunes? I know already that this is possible for music purchases, but I can't find any facility to do the same for iPhone updates –– or for that matter, podcasts, though the latter aren't so much an issue.

    Thanks in advance!

Why not suspend the sleep/screensaver functions for the duration of the download?

No idea why a screensaver would cancel your connection...

This. You can just turn down the brightness if you're worried about burn in or anything. I'm also not sure why your screensaver or power saving settings would reset your connection unless the computer was running off battery power, but even so...

Screen saver wouldn't cancel your connection and if you're running an update on battery power then you could be asking for trouble. Plug the computer in and set your screen and screen saver to not go off. The update can't take so long that it would negatively affect your screen.

When I had my 3g I was having some issues with my laptop but wanted the upgraded OS. I went into the Apple store told them what I wanted to do so they set me up with a mac their in the store and let me do the upgrade.

    Give them a try
