First of all, huge props to thewireless for this project. Aquafox is a gold standard for all my PPC OSX machines! Phenomenal work.

Has anyone found a useragent that actually works for accessing Internet Archive? I can access individual resource pages by just googling, but the homepage just presents as blank. Wondering if it's actually a UA issue or something finnicky in config that I could fix.
Try https://wayback-classic.net/
It is an alternative front end that allows archive.org to be easily accessible on old browsers.

Aquafox 3.1

A bit later than planned, but it's here now and that's what counts. As usual, this release includes security updates to the latest version of 140 ESR.

Thank you all for your continued support, and a special thank you to Santiago Lema, aprfx, and sighmon for their donations! I’ll see you all again at the next release!

Aquafox MP4 Enabler (FFmpeg 3.4.13)

Hey everyone! You might not have heard of it before, but the AquafoxMP4Enabler was intended as a companion plugin for Aquafox (and all other TenFourFox-based browsers) to provide MP4 support, just like the TenFourFoxMP4Enabled does, but with a newer FFmpeg version. This version was originally meant to be released in late 2024 / early 2025, but sometimes things don't entirely go the way we planned them. I'm releasing it now, and I hope someone will get some use out of it.

This is based on FFmpeg 3.4.13 and is available for G5 and 1.25GHz or faster G4 systems (7450).
(FFmpeg 3.4.14 came out in early 2025 and is included in the github repository, you can try building it yourself by simply running gmake in the _mp4enabler directory. See the Makefile for package requirements.)

Thanks as always, thewireless. You're doing an amazing work keeping the dream alive. Also really want to commend you on AquaFoxBox, it's an invaluable tool for sites that are otherwise just a bit too heavy in regular AquaFox. I've figured out how to change the user agent in individual boxes but if you could find a way of incorporating that into the creation process it would be even more helpful - more than one site needs some specific tailoring even in a Box, lol.

And now a quick on-topic conundrum - hitting a problem on install from my PBG4. I'm running the 7450 installer and it throws: 42:50: execution error: File AquafoxMP4Enabler-7450 wasn’t found. (-43) Installation cancelled. Any ideas? Could easily be user error on my part if I'm missing something.

Well that's embarrassing. The G5 installer works fine on my end, but I currently cannot test the G4 installer on a G4. Does the attached installer work? If so, then I'll replace the one on Github, if not, then you can just unzip 7450libs.zip in Library/TenFourFox-FFMPEG/ in your user folder.

I ran Octane 2.0 benchmark on Aquafox 3.2 for G5 on my DP 2.0 powermac, and it scored impressive 3000+ (two tests still failed)

I noticed during this run virtual memory use jumped above 3Gb mark, but it survived (on Leopard)

Thanks for your work on this! Is it normal/expected to get this type of block? Is there a fix for it, like a useragent setting maybe?

This is unrelated to AquaFox / macOS / PowerPC as such, happens on a lot of other browsers and systems, because CloudFlare / Anubis just hate users and want this to be broken LOL

Not sure if fixable on browser end, but might be, since on the same system some browsers may or may not get stuck on this check. (On Catalina I switch between Chrome and Safari.)

No, this is completely related to it in this situation, as Anubis relies on the JavaScript modules feature which was made available in Firefox 60.

Ok, what I meant was this is nothing specific to AquaFox, since this happens in other browsers on other systems.

Well, I guess if you use a browser released before 2018 then it would happen… But by all means the website is working fine and the TFF engine is simply too old to load it.
