Not the pulse, if the green light for the heart rate sensor is on constantly just like the blood oxygen sensor, the battery would drain out very fast.
So it should be capacitive, man.

Wait a minute is the inside plastic or ceramic? Also the ion X glass on aluminum Apple Watch SE and all aluminum Apple Watch is weaker than sapphire crystal so be careful with it.

Both! Usually have the powerbank case 'on' though, because it lets me top up the battwry over USB-C.

If I -know- I wont need a second full battery for my outing, I may only take the watch face/ring.
That said the powerbank case does make it easier to do one handed operation of the UI, with a finger in the ring!

Perfect 👌🏻. Even the big deal of MFi certified accessories in the realm of Apple products is an issue since the 30-pins and FireWire we all remember from the 2000s to early 2010s. It made the highest quality Lightning cables from third party manufacturers to cost more than the USB-C cables. The lightning cables that we grab from the dollar store to temporarily use after our main cables break down, manufacturers evade the high cost and the regulations set by Apple by only putting 6 pins instead of eight and not double sided.
Now with USB-C replacing the Lightning connector from the iPad Pro and iPad Air series and now to the entirety of the iPad and iPhone lineup, we can get the cables that we can universally use. These cables can also charge up power banks and even the latest AirPods lineup since AirPods Pro 2 to seamlessly unite them into only one type of cable to use. We can still fast charge things and comply with the regulations that EU regulators added in the past few years.

This is very cool, and while I have don't have a use for this at the moment since I like wearing my Apple Watch on my wrist, it shows me other possibilities that I might find handy in the future, which I wouldn't have thought of if you didn't show that they were possible. I'm planning on replacing my Series 7 watch with next year's model, and rather than toss my Series 7 into a drawer, or trading it in to Apple for only a minimal price reduction on the new watch, I could install it into one of these cases and try it out, and see if I find some uses for this configuration.
I would like to thank the OP for this. Here is my use case: I am a cycler that uses the AW Ultra, but daily drives a Pixel Fold and Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra . My family are full Apple ecosystem. OP's setup allows me to stay connected with iMessage and all the other stuff more conveniently for Me. Thanks OP.

Do you have an iPhone that is paired with the Apple Watch Ultra? Also there is an Apple Watch Ultra version for the Apple Watch battery case we mentioned in the post… check out the first one.

Hey there - thanks for asking.
I do still use it like this! I just cant wear a watch on my wrist. But as a pocketwatch, it really meets all of my needs. Especially when I'm doing activities where bringing a phone is not ideal.
Even when I do have my phone keeping this in a bag or in my pocket has saved me when my phone dies, I can still make a call, use the Home app to unlock my doors, and pay with Apple Pay.
I havent done much more on the 'roadmap' other than employ the new multi-rfid / nfc ring.
But, even with the powerbank, I wish it had more battery life!
Also, sad to see the Tinypod turn out to be such a flop. I'm glad I didnt wait for their offerings, and I really do think my solution is better!

i use my Series 8 for 22 hours out of 24. during that 2 hours not using it, its on the charger, right around dinner time.
i use it for tracking sleep, average of 2 fitness workouts per day, etc etc.
but, since its a Series 8, and given that i am using it for so many hours in the day, more recently i am running out of battery earlier in the day, and i need to give it a boost in the mid-afternoon.
what i have been looking for, is a way to take my watch off and charge it while it is my backpack.
just a regular magnetic kind of watch charger will probably not work since the watch will move around in the backpack.
so, i am looking for a kind of a charger that i can take my watch off (with the band still on), and put into a charger that somehow secures the watch to the magnetic charging area, and then a USB-C cable that goes from the that charger to a mobile battery.
i don't need functionality of/as a watch while its on the charger in my backpack. i just need it to be securely attached to the charger.
is there something on the market that is equivalent to what im looking for?
i have of course used rubber bands ! to just make the connection a secure connection, and that sometimes works, but not always...

in my experience (with no band!) the watch stays in this charger design quite well! however the requirement of keeping the band on it may be a challenge...

Seems like you could use just about any charger & just put a rubberband over the watch/ charger combination to keep it connected.
