This is ridiculous. I’ll be scrolling comments on the forum post for an article and the webpage will scroll-jack and steal my whole view and make me swipe around before continuing. Make this stop. It is terrible.

My reflexive response is "Yes! The darn popup/slide-over/floating-while-scrolling advertisements have really started to annoy me in the last month or so on my iPhone. Can't hardly read any article, even on a reputable website, without some advertisement popping over what I'm trying to read or look at."
Consider becoming a Contributor of the site for $25. There are some nice perks involved, including ad removal.
OOPS! Thanks for that info. I was responding "in general" and not all all to anything regarding popups from MacRumors. In fact, I don't recall popups from MacRumors!
