Well after posting my Resume on Craig's List i get the following email.

Hi Will,

My name is Lisa (last name omitted), I am a recruiter with Apple Computer that focuses on technical and creative hiring. I viewed your resume on Craigslist and would like to spend 30-40 minutes on the phone with you to discuss your background, as well as the opportunities at Apple.

If possible, I would like to set up a phone interview as soon as possible. Please let me know your availability and at what number you can be reached at that time.

Best,

Lisa

WOOOHOOO. So here is my back story. The post basically said I will be living in the DC area for the summer and need a job. (Read Post Here ) So my interview is tomarrow at 12:30. SO EXCITED!!!

Good luck on your interview. Sounds like you want the job, eh?

Well on a good note she was considering me for a mac Genius postion. The bad news was that it was for their Annapolis location. In my post i said i would be living in the DC area, Annaplois is a bit to far to travel. So maybe over the summer i can work as a specialist in a store and then get upgraded to Genius when i come back home to Jersey.

Kinda bummed out. Cause if i do not find a job in DC i can't live their for the summer. Anybody need a tech guy in DC? I am available.

Make sure you reply with a telephone call, not an email. Your spelling might ruin your chances of employment.

Whoa, Lacero, chill out. Unless I am being dense, the ONLY typo I see is a small error in the thread's title. The thread was started under elation and excitement, and therefore a typo would be even more likely.

I say, congratulations on getting this far, and best of luck to you in getting the position! :)

congradulations as well, hope you find a good job if the one with Apple doesnt work out for the summer, but that is definitely cool

Actually I agree with Lacero. I have thrown out many resumes with poor spelling. I see no less than 3 spelling errors in the OP.

I do have to admit, the strange spelling was the only reason I clicked on this thread...to see if it was intentional or accidental. FWIW, though, I hope it works out for you, Will! :)

You CAN email her back with the best time for you. I've also been in contact with Lisa about a Mac Genius Position in new Apple Retail Store in NY that hasn't been built yet.

Keep in mind that she is in CA, ny DC so she is 3 hours behind you. So if you would like 8am your time, remember thats 5am her time.

I've been through the same interview you will go through. It would be around and hour phone interview. You will talk about your background with computers, Macs, etc... Then she will ask to do a 20 to 30 minute Q&A session with you to see what you know about Macs. Some are easy, some are hard, and some are very hard. I'm not going to go into detail about the kinds of questions she will ask.

I will tell you this...if she asks you for an email address she can email you applications and a release form (Background check), and also mentions something about when face to face interviews you did pretty well and will probably go to the next step. The next step is a face to face interview with probably the store manager of the retail store. If the store is new and hasn't been built (as in the case of me), you will have an interview with the store manager of an Apple Retail Store near by. I just when through my second interview (face to face) today. I wasn't asked any technical questions as Lisa does all of that. Basically the second interview is a get to know you kind of interview. You will probably be asked some of the same questions that Lisa asked you that are non-technical as well as others.

Make sure you show your express appreciation for Apple, their products, and customer support during the interview.

Good Luck!

BTW...if you don't know a question that Lisa may ask you that doesn't mean you're not going to be considered for the next step in the hiring process. She just wants to get a feel for what you know.

INr egards to typos: I will always double and triple check professional corespondence (sp?).

I still have several applications in at other Apple stores that i submitted in person or via the web (apple's site or hotjobs).

We'll see how it all goes.

Too bad for that.

One of the best Network engineers I work with has got to be one of the worst spellers I know.

He does things with Cisco routers, some Cisco engineers don't completely understand. Granted I don't know what kind of work you are in, but just because someone can't spell perfect will not always make that person a terrible worker / employee.

Congrats on the chance to work with / for Apple. I wonder if you will still be able to partake in "rumors" if employed by the holy grail of the PC world.

If you get the job then Apple won't like you using these forums often. Also, I'm not sure about Apple's spelling requirements but i'm not sure they'll be impressed with "Intterview Tomarrow"

Not so good. the position was for the annpolis store as a mac genius. That would be abou1.5 hours from where i would be living. Way to far for me to travel. And the position could not be downgraded to part time in september when school started. So i have a few more apps in at other stores. see how that goes.
