Personally, I think the hardshell has the possibility of leaving scratches on your MBP. The skin (any brand will work) only protects against scratches. However, combined with a padded sleeve you've got protection for most things (if you're really paranoid about dropping your MBP, you get Tom Bihn's Horizontal or Vertical brain cell).Hey guys. I have penryn 15" MBP, and want to add a little more protection to it in my college environment. However,I can't decide between getting an InvisibleSHIELD or the incase hardshell case. I already have a neoprene sleeve, so the hardshell might be a little excessive and add more weight, but i'm not sure how reliable invisibleSHIELDS actually are.
I use a combo of Invisible Shield (Best Skins doesn't have anything for the 17" MBP) and a Waterfield sleeve.
Regarding the skin, you don't use that much solution. Also, after the skin fully dried (which takes about 24 hours with it off), I had no bubbles. Yes, it takes time to ensure that the skin goes on correctly. Once it's on, it'll provide a barrier against those possible minor scratches (e.g., your watch).
Hope this helps.
