hey i am ordering an invisible shield for my 60g ipod video, and i hear that it does not come with any directions:confused: . can someone here pleasee send me a link or some info on how to get them...thanx.:)

It doesn't come with printed directions, but there's a little piece of paper that gives you a URL to go to for detailed instructions. Don't have the link at the moment though. It's somewhere on the InvisibleShield website.

I'm doing the exact same thing! Bought the IS last week and will get the iPod this week.

There's an installation video on their website.... somewhere.

Where is it? I have no idea. I downloaded it and now can't find where I got it from!! I shall keep looking!

EDIT

Found it! Had to google it to find it!!

That should hopefully answer your questions. Though I'm sure it won't be as easy as they make it out to be!

i'll add my support for the IS. A truly great product. I carry my nano in my pocket with all kinds of other stuff and it never gets hurt at all. An IS is definitely going on any future ipod I get!

Just used smooth tooth paste on my white 5g. It reduced the bigger scratches and scuffs, but put little hairline scratches all over the screen. It's a good thing I don't care.

I've had the invisibleshield on my ipod for about a month. It is bar none the coolest accessory I've bought for my iPod. No more stupid cases, no more worrying about if it will be scratched. Just throw it in my pocket with whatever is already in there and go on with my day. I highly recommend.

Just steelwool/sandpaper those suckers off. Does the trick every time. :D

Just kidding...I'm not really sure.

One question about the is. Why do so many people mention using soapy water? Is there something wrong with using the included spray? Is using soapy water better?

i got this big scuff on my IS while taking it out of my incase leather sleeve (that I use for running with the nano because it has a belt clip). :( It's not actually on the ipod but still mars the appearance, and I think it's physical damage to the IS, not something that will come off. A little disappointed...

I had a similar thing happen to mine. They'll accept it in exchange for a new one under their lifetime warranty program. A pain IMHO. I just wish Apple would put a non-scratch watch-type crystal on these things. Heck, put it on a "pro-pod" and charge an extra $50 for it.

oh, cool, that's good to know - thanks. definitely a pain though, as i'll have to take off my IS, send it back, and then go through the hassle of putting on a new one. But nice to have the option.

The way it works is that they send you a new one then you send in the old one and they register the return.

Well, my black 60GB arrived today which meant putting the IS on straight away. Haven't even had a play with the iPod yet. Just turned it on to make sure it worked before installation.

Installing the IS wasn't too hard but my application does have a few flaws but it's certainly worth the money. Putting the back on was very easy, the front was the tricky bit.

As for the scratchability of the new iPods.... put it this way, I look the iPod out, put it on a smooth table, installed the click wheel and front panels and when I turned it over, there was already a scratch on the back!

Still, all safe now. IS is on! Tomorrow morning I'll have a play.

That's funny - I actually struggled with the back and found the front to be really easy. I think it has to do with my suggestion - the first time you put it on, that first side iwll be the hardest.

For anyone who is doing what we did (installing upon reciept), I would suggest leaving the plastic sticky on the front of the iPod while you do the back - that way it doesn't get scratched. After the back dries for 30min-1 hour, flip it over and peel off the plastic. Then you can go to work on the front. This way you avoid scratched on the entire machine - I can proudly say that mine is completely scratch-free.

Is it better to get the IS with the click wheel cutout, or the one that completely covers it (for a nano, if it makes a difference)?

For those of you with the IS, I'm kind of interested because my current iSkin (while doing a decent job) is just too thick for things like my belkin cup holder and JBL speakers... thus I'm constantly taking my iPod out of it's skin and scratching it up.
From the FAQ
Q: Will I be able to use the accessories for my electronics after installing the invisibleSHIELD?

A: Generally, yes. The invisibleSHIELD is 8 mil thick [not to be confused with 8 millimeters: 8 mil = .008 inches], and we create the designs so not to cover any ports and openings. That means you will still be able to use most docks, connections and headphones.
This stuff is pretty thin 0.008 inches is 0.2 millimeters! But I was wondering if anybody has had problems with the invisible shield and 'docking' it to other things.

If there are any Canucks that bought it through a retail store can you let me know which one? I'd rather buy one at a store than waiting for delivery... assuming a store even has one for a 3rd gen... ;)

I haven't had any issues with my 5G and checking it out with a universal dock. It is kind of creepy how thin it is. I wouldn't imagine you will have any problem - I have yet to find a dock/speaker/etc accessory that was designed to fit that tightly around my 3G.

and platypus - it's a matter of personal preference. I like not having the clickwheel covered as it gives the wheel a slightly different tactile feel. But, it did take me a little longer to get on. If you want a unified seal, then get the full sheet. With the 5G they include the cutouts with the shield. I'd imagine that they do the same for the nano with cutouts. that would give you the option of deciding later, at the risk of having to do some additional work.
