it requires multiple exploits to chain together to get a jailbreak going is my understanding,

but on r/jailbreak there seems to be hype surrounding this one

I'm on 10.1b2 for fear that later betas and now GM are buggier.

Never gave 10.0.3 a try on 7+, loaded up beta right away to try portrait mode

what would you do?

10.0.3 and wait seems most logical, but

edit- rolling back to 10.0.2,

how has 10.0.2 or 10.0.3 been for you, and which version 7/7+ you got?

I believe a jailbreak for 10.1 will be released. But you do slightly increase your chances of a jailbreak by staying on a lower IOS version. The only downsides are possible cell signal issues, less overall stability, and no portrait mode.

Thats not good.
Im hoping we'll see a JB soon.
I couldn't stay on older iOS since I had random loss of carrier data and had to do a reboot here and there when I couldn't pull data.
10.1 is pretty solid so hoping something pops up soon:)
 
The rule of thumb is 'earlier is better' but it's all a guess.

You should never be on a beta release if you want to JB though. Definitely a no-no.

Good call. I got my 6S in January with IOS 9.1, which had been out for a while, and then 9.2 was released. After a couple more months with no jailbreak, I figured the next jailbreak would be for 9.2 or 9.3 (I was on the 9.3 betas while they were still signing IOS 9.2). Then out of nowhere, a jailbreak for iOS 9.1 was released. Doh! I had to wait a few more agonizing months for the "worst ever JB" to be released. Lesson learned...

For iPhone 7 plus owners it will be silly not to update to 10.1 for portrait mode support.

I've enjoyed portrait mode for a month now. Still miss it but would miss jailbreak way more.

Exploits being patched coinciding with a new feature is beyond security researchers control
 
I have an ipad air 2 that is on 8.4, what is the firmware Apple is still signing that is J/B

I upgraded my iPhone 7 plus to 10.1 for portrait mode and today to 10.1.1 since it has no more security updates.

Hoping for a jailbreak release for 10.1 / 10.1.1 soon. iOS earlier than 10.1 is not stable for jailbreak release and not worth it.

Are you jailbroken already on iOS 8.4? If you're not then why not jailbreak 8.4? Very stable and with the added plus of having a 'work every time' Cydia Eraser so if you make a f.up and have major problems then you can restore to iOS 8.4 again.
