My newer iPad with lightning connector and retina display does not support external devices in GarageBand. My older iPad that cannot be upgraded to latest version of GarageBand will support external keyboards. Can someone tell me how to make the newer iPad support these devices?

I am not that sure...but so, far like you...I have been suffering with the same issue ?!

That my Roland Fantom and EA-7 not supporting with my Ipad Air 2....with EA-7 it supported for 30 seconds or so !! but then the damn pop up on my ipad :/

So far...the only solution that I came up with is that Ipad Changed (lowered) its power usage....and so you will require a Powered USB HUB , inorder to make it work....that's all I can tell you !!

Hope this helps !!

I have ordered this Hub you can try...
