iOS 10 affecting badge count on Mac??

Maybe coincidence, but since installing iOS 10, my messenger badge won't clear on my Mac unless I open Messenger on my phone, even if I've opened them on the Mac and even clicked "mark all as read". Just doesn't happen. Any explanation for this? I think this is new; never noticed this before two days ago.

Probably a bug, are you using Sierra? I do and don't have this issue.

El Capitan. Unusual because it's never done this before. It's almost as if it has something to do with Handoff. The message badge icon will not clear unless I open messages on the phone. I don't even need to select the message. And it really did start at the same time I updated to iOS 10.

Can you update to Sierra with a backup beforehand? Maybe that'll fix it.
