iOS 10 is such a disappointment, why?

Being an enterprise standard is exactly why they don't throw in a flavour of the month "features" into their email client. It's not something a C level wants, needs or is asking for.

I do care. iOS feels polished compared to Android. Android is counter intuitive, cluncky and has way to many options to do a simple task that doesn't really increase productivity, but just gives you options for the sake of options. A good example is the top status bar or whatever it's called. Sometimes in screen grabs of Android I see 15 icons in that status bar. Often their duplicated. What the hell do they all mean and more so, who cares. How does using that phone become easier if you have 15 status's of services running in that status bar. How can you keep track of 15 icons and what exactly their purpose is and if one dropped off what that means. If anything it's more confusing. That's what Windows was and I don't want iOS to become the Windows of mobile phones like Android is. Keep it simple yet highly functional. Now I'm not saying it can't improve, but lets hope the improvements stay in line with the simplicity and functionality that iOS is built around. Believe it or not, it's much harder to design functional simplicity than it is to just add feature upon feature.

I feel exactly the different way. The Android status bar gives me exactly what I want and I can extract informations from icon without really do anything.

For example: I know I have a mail message, I know I have WeChat message, I know if app are updating in the background. I don't need go back to home screen to know I have message waiting, I have unanswered call, I don't need go App Store to know I have app updating.

I love choice. I dislike Applw force stuff to my throat.

Honestly why is it important to know an app is updating? How does that increase your productivity or make your day any better? I'm not being a smart ass, i actually really want to know why you've chosen to point that out as a feature that justifies a cluttered status bar.

As for going back to the home screen to check if you have messages. jeezuz you must be busy, that push of a HOME button must kill you. That is the kind of logic that Apple uses when they build an OS. Although I generally like the feature implementation on iOS but that app badge business just doesn't work. In fact it's bad. People who have a lot of apps and use their phone as primary computing device will get annoyed with it.

Walking up to your car and using a key to open the door to get must be hard for busy people too since keyfobs have become pretty much a standard. But I guess someone that has a car that doesn't offer it is probably trying to justify how it just can't be useful and those who use it are basically just lazy or entitled and should be looked down upon essentially. Yup, that's totally how that works.

I don't know how Apple decides what apps are critical and require substantial investment. We know Apple is deeply devoted to iMessage, Music, Safari, and Maps (to be brief). Should Mail be included in that group? I don't know. Maybe, since it's a very important app. But if Apple is in, it has to be committed. I wish I could change the default Mail client even more than wanting to change the default Maps provider.

Personally I see that maps have improved a lot.

How is Apple really thinking about every aspect of UI when you can't tell if you have unread mail without pulling Notification Center or going back to home screen.

Funny. I can know all that stuff too without going to the home screen. It's called notifications. I don't need to go to the App Store either, automatic downloads and notifications when an app updates. And the status bar isn't completely filled with icons, its clean and void of redundant info and icons.

If you group by date, then notification from all apps are listed and it is chaotic without any order. If you group by apps, you won't know which date.

Firstly it saves time, especially in the rain, or whilst carrying shopping etc. Also I'm not sure if you are old enough to remember the hundreds of minute scratches a car would get around the keyhole while you were fumbling to put the key in late at night. I don't take whatever Apple offer granted. Users have repeatedly asked for better notification system with iOS, including LED notifications lights.

See there's the difference, I don't feel STUCK, you do. iOS 10 feels like a natural progression of iOS adding more and more functionality and layers with each version. I guess my point is this, rather than come on here and complain, just get an OS (like Android) that works for you and be done with it. Coming on here and saying it should be this and that, and people want this and that will achieve very little. It hasn't for years so why do you think it will now. iOS is what it is and a LOT of people like it.

Seriously? I hold no brand loyalty. I will buy whichever it fits me. I don't go blindly follow Apple and thinking iOS is the best.

I use both iPhone and Android. Because Android offers something iOS does not and vice versa. I don't loyal to one Android brand, I usually go for different brand for next purchase.

As I said, iOS borrowed lots of features from Android and Android borrowed lots of features from iOS. Each platform learning from each other.

Apple made 4.7 and 5.5 inch iPhone realizing that people are moving away from smaller phone (though there are people still like smaller phone). If Apple just be Apple, you will still using 3.5 inch iPhone. Android phone maker started 4K recording years ago, Apple did the same. If Apple bing Apple, you will still using 1080P recoding. Android OEMs are moving away from 16GB base storage, if Apple being Apple, 16GB iPhone will be there forever.

There were never iOS just iOS and iOS evolving from vacuum. It is just silly to think so. If iOS borrows some best feature from Androd, then why can't Apple do the same for users request?

Because "users" who request for specific features make up single digit percentage of the whole userbase. If they implement something then it needs to be done properly and in a way that doesn't hinder the usage pattern of the non techie users who buy into iOS or Apple devices in general for the simplicity. As softwares get complicated with time, keeping a simple UX becomes more and more difficult.

In general Apple is known to refrain from putting in features that are half baked. That's the basic principle of iOS and Apple as a company. This is a completely opposite attitude to what Android was built for.

The 2 platforms serve completely different types of devices and users. On top, mostly users don't know what they're asking for. So yes, as a company they can't just listen to whoever comes up with whatever random idea.

But then when Apple made software update available while I am waiting for my Android phone to be updated, do I wish Android maker step their games up? Hell yes.

Pretty sure I'm switching to the Note 7 this week as the rumored iPhone 7 doesn't interest me but have to say that my 6S+ is blazing fast on iOS 10. Best performance I've ever had out of it.

See how icons belong together? The same style and same proportions in all of them, with a consistent palette and consistent shading?

See the diameter of the globe? it matches the diameter of the microphone, and the "box" on the shopping cart matches the size of the rectangle in the clapper?

Other than that, I don't see the connection with iOS (any version), because it also uses rounded rectangle icons? Guess that Apple has been copying LeapPad since 1984!

Dude I can assure you, most of the world does not have 2 devices with different eco systems because their needs are so diverse. The majority of people wouldn't know how to make that work and have some type of syncing between the two because I'm assuming you have data. There are a lot of Geeks that do though, but like I said Apple does not focus on that demographic because it's a tiny portion of their user base. You are a minority so complaining will get you no where but you don't seem to understand that. Your voice isn't being heard by Apple, what good is it complaining here considering your needs are so unique.

Anyway you didn't answer my question, do you go to Samsung forums and complain there? Do you?

Wasn't disappointing. I'm pretty happy with the beta so far and the additional features. that being said, there were some things I wished they would have done.

• Swipe feature for keyboard
• Dark Mode
• iMessage for Android (Love to use all these new features with all of my contacts, not just most)
• Default Apps
• Widgets, like temperature, on the lock screen
• Estimated time before fully charged when the device is charging

This is a fantastic post.

Would love to see all of these capabilities added.

While there are certainly some good points there, Android outselling iOS has much more to do with the simple reality of the sheer number of all kinds of Android devices available at all kinds of price points (many quite cheap, compared to iOS devices) than really anything else.

Overall I like iOS 10 so far on my iPhone 6 and iPad Pro 9.7. The new unlock takes some getting used to and does not seem consistent. But 10 is still beta and it isn't a deal breaker. I like the new notifications and widgets, and performance seems to be very good even on what's now a 2 yo phone. I really look forward to seeing what developers do with access to Siri.
