Regardless of the horrible and ugly design in the new music app, there's one thing that has me quite upset. For non-Apple Music subscribers, the playlist and music tabs have been replaced with features that we cannot even access because we are not subscribed. This worked perfectly in iOS 9 and I don't understand why it was changed in iOS 10. I don't want Apple Music, I like to own my music and I wish Apple would stop trying to shove it down my throat. What is the likely hood of this being changed before the official release?

    I think never.

The reason being that you can delete the music app. I think Apple's intention for people using the official Music app is that they are Apple Music subscribers. Everyone else can use a third party app (and there are a lot of nice local music 3rd party apps).

At the very least, you can use that as a current work around if you'd like.

Do you have any local music apps you'd be able to recommend?

As of now, Ecoute doesn't work if you delete the stock music app. It shows all of my music but nothing will play.

Can you please recommend a third party app? I don't want Apple Music even if it was free.

I agree - the music app, which i do think looks much more manageable, seems to be highly focused on Apple music. I would love to join Apple music except for two reasons: 1. $ - if it was $5/mo I'd do it - but 15 is more than i want to spend. I own most of my favorite songs already so I don't want to pay to listen to what I already own. 2. Streaming when no WIFI available. I know you can download songs to your phone, but, isn't the point of AM to discover new songs. And, the radio requires an internet connection. At work I don't have access to public wifi and I don't think my co would be happy with me streaming all day. I think AM looks incredible and I loved using it during its free trial - but....

How exactly are you supposed to have access to a gigantic library of music without an internet connection? Not trying to be snide, it's an actual question. It sounds like a streaming service just probably isn't for you.

    That's a curious sentiment.

that was one of the reasons i'm not a member of apple music - because, other than cellular (verizon) , i don't have access to wifi most of the day.

What happens to the tabs etc in the Stock Music App if you restrict Apple Music in the Restrictions area of the Settings App? Also, does changing the system wide text size in Settings reduce the size and weight of the font in the Music App?

Ecoute is indeed a very nice replacement for the Apple Music App and feels very stock in itself, however sadly there is no iPad version :(

The price for one person is $10 per month. $5 if you are a student or at least have an edu address and $15 for a family of up to 6 users. I have 4 users for the $15 price which is the same as I was paying for other services and no more than if I were still buying a few songs per month. Its not for everyone but having access to a huge library on demand is great for us.

Or it's simply someone who doesn't feel the need to consume everything just because it's available? That's a wild concept in first world society today, but you actually DON'T have to download/consume/hoard things just because they are free. Maybe he doesn't need it, or just doesn't prefer Apple Music as a service. I'm right there with him and I don't feel hatred in my heart for a silly music service.

Nothing happens currently if you disable Apple Music to the tabs. But it was mentioned somewhere (perhaps the iOS 10 beta 1 release notes) that disabling AM will change the tabs around in a future build.

What I meant about retyping. Is rather than me retyping a similar response over again, I just linked to it from another thread.

I will just say you could not have a full picture of the service if you don't try it. Since you can't make its appearance disappears, and if the service is "FREE", why not? The discovery feature alone is really handy. I already found quite a few songs I love which otherwise I would never know about them.
And ability to tell SIRI to play songs you don't have is just grand.
You may love it or you may not but to say will never try even if it's free is just silly IMO. It looks like someone having a grudge.

Not hate, I just have no need or want for it. I don't use the News app either. I don't hate it just have no need or want for it.
