so I installed the beta on my iPad Air 2; and us iPad users are back to the iPhone experience blown up...

Few main problems for me is how the widgets screen on the left is so narrow, there is so little space. It's pretty much the width of an iPhone; and just has blank space either side. You need to rotate to landscape to get duel panels.

Another major annoyance is how the new control centre takes up so much of the screen. The iOS 9 control centre takes up a small part of the screen but gives all of the purposeful information and toggles nessasery. Having this massive (and ugly non edge to edge curved Windows) panels popping up that are more than twice the size of the iOS 9 one with no new main features, and the fact that I need to swipe to control centre Number 2 to get even music control!?!?!

And when you get a nofication on iPad, it's not a tiny box (again, with over rounded corners) that show little information about the nofication compared to their iOS 9 counterpart.

I'm not even going to describe this next one. Just look at the screenshot attached.... It looks more like a website with badly implemented responsive design... At least this will be good for the elderly community.....

Seems to be, the more android features iOS gets, the more the iPad becomes an android tablet in the way it's just a blown up phone experience...

    Rant over.

Thanks to Apple, I am now the not so proud owner of a 9.7 inch phone (without the phone bit).

I don't have an iPad, but would iPad experience always a blown up of iPhone experience? Just getting worse on iOS 10.

It's a massive wrong turn when they're trying to promote to the pro line of users with the iPad Pro models. If they ship iOS 10 like this on a 12.9 inch iPad Pro; they're gonna sell jack poop lol

I'm going to be the voice of (hopeful) reason and point out that this is a very early beta, and of course the iPhone UI would get finished first. I believe we've seen beta UI's change quite substantially before final release in the past, and I would expect that to happen in this case.

I tried multiple times with iPad Pro and I just could not find a solid reason to buy it.
All of those stuff are "cool" but not a true deal breaker, especially my PC has a good multitouch touch screen, and full version of windows 10.

As time goes on, I find I may eventually buy an iPad Pro but not near future. Of course, big one. Only a few apps are worth using on it like Microsoft office suite. And a few sketch apps. I thought I would play two games side by side, only to find I just play a game on such gigantic iPad with blown up iPhone user interface. This is extremely easy on PC as long as user can handle both. I cannot see more on iPad Pro rather than I can do on PC with high resolution screen. This can go on and on.

It's like they just did a global width:100%, corner-radius:15px and said "yeah, that'll do"

The rounded corners are terrible, I'm all for softening them but they've gone too far. If you look at the corners of the artwork in the music app, that's about right for me.

Agreed. I haven't really wanted to pick up my iPad Pro since I installed the beta. I will ride it out, but as others have said, I sure hope they update the UI as the beta process continues. Music is a mess.

Sometimes it seems like things get developed for iPhone and then ported to iPad as an afterthought. But pretty sad considering Tim Cook has made fun of Android tablets and their "blown up smartphone apps".

And still no Weather app like that on the Apple TV, or a calculator.

Is that really a tablet UI? It looks just as bad as Android on tablets.

I think everyone need to keep in mind that this is beta 1 of iOS 10. Apple still has a lot of time to implement changes and refine the UI for iPads. So far I have enjoyed using iOS 10 on my iPad Pro. Yes there are some things that need fixing but it is beta software so we can't expect this to be a polished and accurate representation of the final product.

My guess is they haven't really went through all the iPad UI stuff - there are a ton of rough edges (Control center, for example is identical in portrait and landscape, which looks strange. On the 6S Plus it has an altered UI.) At least I hope not - if this is actually like this at release I'll be selling my iPad Pro.

Don't believe it when they say that this is an early beta and things will change as we get closer to the final release, no, apple never done that. They introduce things in beta one, and the rest is just very small tweaks that you won't even notice.

Apple's iOS design team need to get fired, macOS's design team should take over.
I don't think Jony Ive is going any good job, I wish he would stick to hardware design.

Factually incorrect. iOS 7 was the last time the look drastically changed and it made a great deal of substantial changes throughout the beta and a few smaller ones in the 7.x releases.

Guess you missed the iOS 7 beta period, it changed quite a bit.

Drastically changed? Not really, they only tweaked the buttons in the phone all. Not drastic in any way.

I tested iOS 7, as I remember, they only tweaked the buttons in the phone app. Nothing much else.

iOS 10 should be changed to have the music page of Control Center automatically show up on the lock screen when there's audio playing instead of having special lock screen controls for music.
