iOS 10 Public Beta

Hey all,
What are the chances we'll see a public beta of iOS 10 soon after WWDC like the developer beta? Do you think we'll see it more in line with the developer beta or will we have to wait a month like last year with iOS 9?

If Apple follows previous patterns - on an x.0 release, the first public beta is a few weeks if not up to a month after the first developer release - expect the same until something else happens.

Yeah last year they released it after the third developer beta, and that meant around a month after WWDC. I'm just hoping that it will be released a few days after WWDC, like on this Tuesday, which is like what they did on PBs of 9.x.x, etc., even tho they probably won't, still hoping lol.

I think Apple will want to limit the possibility of this happening to a lot of PB testers' daily drivers. Really bad PR for them and possible legal liability, no matter how many disclaimers there are.

That is true, and that is why I think Apple usually waits until the third dev beta to release the first public beta.

When it comes to X.0 builds. The typically beta time is 3 weeks. We will most likely see PB1 with DP3, so roughly 5-6 weeks after WWDC. So I am guessing mid-end of July. WWDC is later this year, so it might be 1-2 weeks later than last year.

Usually Apple does a DP every other week so if that pattern continues, along with the previous pattern of new major PBs on Thursday, I expect PBs on July 14.

Ha I was typing a similar guess when you posted that. I expect the same, although typically it has been on Thursdays after the DPs came on Tuesdays.

Oh yeah, I couldn't remember if the PB's came out the same day as their corresponding DP's, but you're right, it was usually a day or two later. I ran the developer previews instead of the Public ones last year, so I didn't care to remember what days the public ones came out.

You're right, not likely. The first public beta will be out when developers get the second or third beta (probably the third, nearly half way through the testing phase).

Developers kits will include Beta 10 today shortly after WWDC announcements, at least that's how it usually goes. Public beta, like last year was about 2 weeks or so later. First you had to sign up online and be accepted, which anyone who signed up was, but then you play the waiting game for them to make sure the beta is ok for Developers. I'm excited for 10, hoping it has a lot of additions!

Seriously... you're setting yourself up for disappointment when things don't go like you wish... do not expect a public beta for two to three weeks as noted above - and if it comes sooner than that, then get giddy about it.
