iOS 11 and airplay to multiple speakers

I installed iOS 11 yesterday on my 6s Plus. One of the features I was looking forward to was streaming music from my iPhone to multiple Airplay enabled speakers. But this feature does not work for me on my Bowers & Wilkins speakers. I didn't think it's a hardware or firmware issue - just a software issue that iOS 11 was going to solve.

I'm not sure what Airplay 2 is? If I can stream to multiple speakers from my Macbook Pro (through iTunes and Airfoil) why can't I from my iPhone?

Never could could the iphone/ipad devices.

I use remote app to control my desktop itunes for multi airplay.
