Some weird issues with Carplay since updating to IOS 11. I have a Ford Escape 2017.

I like the new additions to maps, but when I'm using maps and I tap the screen, it won't go back to the regular navigating screen showing your location correctly. And I can't tap on any of the icons on the left. They glow like i tapped it but nothing. I have to double tap the 'home' button on the screen to get to home but that doesn't fix maps.

It made me miss some turns because it was not displaying properly. I had to unplug and use the phone since it then worked, but plug it back in and it did the same thing.

Must be a ford thing, I don’t have that issue in my Hyundai and I’ve been using the betas for a while

Not just ford, check the threads in the iOS 11section. Lots of CarPlay issues, my Kenwood works great until the update, post ios11it has been really flaky, not working at all or working but not fully. Rolled back to 10and all is well again so it’s definitely the ios11 causing issues.

Only issue I’ve had is a lack of a route starting if I’m at the edge of my WiFi when I start it.

Not that it is useful to the OP, but I haven't had any issues with CarPlay in my Jeep Grand Cherokee (in iOS 10 or 11). I am really loving it right now.

Is everyone still having issues? I can not get any of my apps to play propersly, even a native app such as apples podcast app, granted even pre ios 11 it had issues. Mostly concerned about Amazon music stopped workign.
Will do a reinstall tonight.

I had that with IOS 10 as well (and still have it with ios 11). The nice thing about ios 11 for me is that when I use the control panel to turn off WIFI (so that the route shows up immediately with LTE), I now don't have to remember to turn it back on when I get back home later. (Since that's how the new wifi control panel works)

Not “definitely”. Correlation is not causation. It is entirely plausible that Kenwood itself needs a software update to play well with iOS 11. I personally have a Ford Escape with carplay and about every 1 out of 100 starts the ford sync won’t recognize carplay, BUT it won’t recognize any other Bluetooth phone either. I attribute that to the sync system. It was actually worse but ford had an update a while back. Other than that, carplay has worked great for me ever since iOS 11 PB. It is just as likely an issue present with many car audio units as it would be carplay itself.

Also, these forums aren’t a good measure of how many people are and are not having issues.

No issues in my 2016 Honda Accord. I really do wish car makers adapt the WIRELESS CARPLAY sooner than later. I rather not have an After Market system installed to support that option.

Yes and no. Wireless carplay seems convenient, but without wireless charging also integrated into a car it really makes little sense. I stream a lot of music while frequently utilizing the GPS, so my phone would be dead way before the end of my day on wireless carplay systems. I’m fine with the wire. I plug my phone in, put it in center console and it’s out of sight out of mind. Plus, when I arrive at my destination I typically have a full charge.

[doublepost=1511671245][/doublepost]Apple car play has all kind of issues with ios11 . Nothing works for me. When is Apple going to fix the car play bugs

I suspect at least some if not all of these bugs are really your car's implementation of it. Sure it isn't perfect but some of these failures can be because the interface wasn't implemented correctly

My BMW has wireless Carplay. Works great, except after iOS11 it seems buggy.

I have Carplay in my merc. I get no sound when playing music unless I switch to the radio and then back again and as for Apple Maps, its horrendous. Three times Apple Maps has told me that i have reached my destination like a massive big conference centre or hotel when actually I have ended up n a field three miles from where I am supposed to be. I have to use Mercedes Navigation to give me the right directions to take me to where i should be,
Switching to the Comand system corrects Apples failures and demonstrates how things should work. In a word Apple Carplay is crap

I'm not sure some of the issues are car play vs. Apple maps issues. I think Car Play is a method of displaying or hearing what the iPhone is doing. Not saying car play is perfect but Apple Maps isn't either

Yes, audio cutouts and sometimes I can't switch from CarPlay to FM presets -- it will just switch back to CarPlay.

I have a new Audi Q5. Car Play was working fine until the iOS 11.2.5 update when it now doesn't work at all. Apple say I have to wait until Audi update their firmware. ie Apple update the IOS and expect every car manufacturer to update firmware less than a year old?? Not going to happen soon I suspect. Shame - was a great feature!
