I think it's pretty clear that it will be 64Bit only.
A7 and higher. This will probably be the end for 5s and 6.

iPhone 5s and 6 are 64 bit. If those two get dropped it will more likely be due to insufficient RAM (1GB) than CPU.

BUT, I kind of doubt they will. The iPhone 6 is two years newer than the 5, which is still supported by iOS 10. Unless Apple plans to support devices for less time than they have in the past, they won't drop the 6. And if they don't drop the 6, there is little reason to drop the 5s since they have the same amount of RAM and are just 64 bit.

This is just my reasoning of course. :)

My comment of saying "This will probably be the end for the 5s and 6", is that iOS 11 will be the end. Not 10. That is why my statement of 64bit is still correct. The iPhone 5 is 32bit, the 5s is 64 bit. iPhone 5 is done.

iOS 12 will probably drop support for all 1GB devices.

A8 processor is only 15% faster than A7 , am I right ? So, when the 5s get dropped , the 6 will get just one more iOS version . . Apple just dropped iPad mini 2 (A7processor) from the iPad line up , which means that it will be supported for 2 years.

Unlikely (Mini 2). The max an iOS device is supported is 5 years. The 5s and 6 will probably go out together because they only have 1GB of RAM. I think anything with 1GB, including the Mini 2 will be dropped with iOS 12. Typically once Apple pulls the product, that year is the last year it will receive an update.

Not sure the 5s will be dropped in iOS 12. Definitely don't think they'll drop the 5s and 6 at the same time.

That would be the 6th version of iOS that the 5s gets. They never keep devices around that long. The longest living iOS device is the iPad 2 and that got 5.5 versions of iOS. It came with the tail end of iOS 4. No device has had 6 major X.0 releases.

Well, maybe iOS 11 will be the last IOS version for 5s , maybe not . Apple usually give an extra update for S iPhones. Maybe this time will be different , who knows . I wouldn't be suprised if the 5s gets IOS 12.

I think the iPhone 5s and mini2 will still get iOS11 but that will then be the end of it. Luckely both are 64bit.
I still own both although I recently purchased a 2nd hand iPhone SE as well.

I agree that iPhone 5s and iPhone 6 will be dropped altogether in ios 12 and ios 11 is their last version.

Nope. I don't think so it would be an end to 5s or 6. People are still using iOS 10.3.1 on iPhone 5.

Yeah the 5 runs iOS 11 pretty well, muchhhh better than iOS 9 on the 4S or iOS 7 on the iPhone 4. I hope for one more year or A6 support, if it runs well they should do it. After all they keep boasting about the environment, they should ensure that they keep their old tech from being prematurely made .

For once however I'm safe. My iPad 2 is obviously stranded on iOS 9, my SE and Air 2 should be fine.

Now it 64 bit . That's the reason why iPhone 5 will be dropped from iOS 11. iPhone 5 ,5c are done

But Apple has dropped two iPads at one time. I'm truly willing to bet the 6 will not get 12. No iOS device has gotten 6 version of iOS. The 6 is underpowered. They won't make the same mistake twice like they did with the iPad 2. iPad 2 should have never gotten iOS 9.

Well , the iPad 2 has an A5 processor while the iPad 3 has an A5X processor , the iPad 3 are underpowered . And A5 to A5X is not a big difference. The 6 and 5s are very similar too , but I think they won't drop 5s and 6 at the same time .

Wait, why don't people think iOS 12 will drop 5s?? At least one iPhone is dropped every version of iOS.

5/5c gone with iOS 11.

Making 5s next for iOS 12.

Thats my point. Its very similar, way underpowered, especially the big screen of the Plus, it won't be able to keep up.

Look at the iPhone 4S! It runs iOS 9 and it has 512MB of RAM.

Not sure if I am following, so did the iPad 2...

iOS 10 killed off support for devices with less than 1GB.
iOS 11 will kill off 32bit
iOS 12 will kill off devices with less than 2GB.

Seems pretty straight forward.
