More bloat to slow down IOS 11 :(.

Said with such authority.

A couple reminders for you:
  • iOS 11 is not slow, at least on recent hardware (iPhone 6 and newer).
  • Apple continues to make improvements to hardware and software performance. Think: "Metal 2", as one example.

I'd love to know how many people use these effects. I only use them on special occasions such as birthdays, holidays, etc.

I like these effects but I wish there was an easier way to choose one. I don't like all the swiping to find the one I want. Not a huge deal but definitely could have a better experience to select one. Wasn't bad when there were only a few.

I don't use the full screen one's too much, sometimes though
however I use the message effects often (mainly Slam and Loud)

Innovation! Innovation! INNOVATION! innovation! Innovation! InOvAtIoN!

Edit: Yeah, I have to admit that Apple implemented this concept better than I did in this comment.

I must admit that I've found all the daft stuff in Messages more fun that I expected and less annoying than I feared, compared to when it was first announced. I can imagine it would get very annoying if you have even just one person in your circle that over-uses all that stuff though, so I still think it would be good to have a nice big button in settings to turn it all off except basic text (and maybe simple emoticons).

I'd be interested in seeing the full effect rather than just a couple screenshots.

EDIT: An hour later, beta installed, and…

EDIT EDIT: Damn, beaten by a few other posters.

That is one big pile of *poo* (as are the others in this thread).

But I mean that as huge compliment! :D

I use them on special occasions, etc., as well as when someone finds out they are expecting.

Also, I use sparingly to send a special love message and my effort always pays off later on. ;)

I do t suppose they've added an 'Off' toggle switch for stuff like this yet?

If someone sent you one of these messages would you really be that offended?

Honestly, I actually forget they even exist. I do like how the creativity behind these animations. And I have had plenty of people send me different animations. But then again, I'm not really one to send balloons floating or a light show in the background of a text.

Neat effects. And bravo to Tim Cook for making haters waste their own time commenting on this rather than wasting it for them in the keynote.

I see... Can I get rid of this crap? I keep accidentally adding effects cause I press the send button for slightly too long. The whole point of the Messages app was that it's simple and easy to use.

Edit: If there's a way to disable the button that I'm not seeing, I'd be grateful if someone could tell me.

MacRumors if Apple doesn't do fun stuff / "Why doesn't Apple compete with Facebook Messenger and WhatsApp? It's 2017, they should at least have x, y, and z feature. I love this company, but they've lost their magic."

MacRumors when Apple does fun stuff / "THIS IS SO STUPID." "I just want to send a text." "More bloatware to slow down iOS 11." "These got old so fast." "Maybe instead of spending time on this, they should update the Mac mini because clearly you can only work on one of those at the same time." ":rolleyes::rolleyes:" "Watch bands!!!!!"
What if I told you... those were two different groups of people
