Just don't. IOS 11 should not be used on 1Gb RAM devices like IPad Air or iPhone 6/6+
While it seems decent enough in the beginning, it starts introducing severe lag as it gets under more and more memory pressure with usage and active background apps. It does seem to run fairly well on 2Gb devices like Air 2 and 6s/6s+

Runs very good on the iPad Air 2. The only issue I have is that not all my apps from the Apple store sync properly, but that's probably due the beta version.

Thanks so much for the replies. I see its a mixed bag on iPad Air....I guess I hold off.
I’ll throw another yay vote into the update ring. Updated a family member’s Air and it runs just fine. Very smooth, no show stopping issues to report. The only annoying thing is that pulling down Notification Center stutters noticeably (not jarring, but you can definitely tell). Other than that, apps don’t launch quite as quickly, but I’d expect that to be addressed in a future update.

I'm running it on an Air. The biggest issue is slow launch time for some apps like Safari and Notes. It is also slow sometimes switching between apps. There is sometimes some keyboard lag.

All I can say is that for me it is worth it. I like the changes and the sluggishness isn't that bad.

The early public betas were terrible on older equipment, but the later builds were much better. My original iPad air is just fine on iOS11. I have not seen any bugs that would make me dissuade anyone from upgrading on launch day.
