Very safe! It's a security update to patch security holes and safeguard your data.
Thank you for your reply!

The reason I ask is because in the past I've installed a few iOS Updates that have made my iPad Mini 3 run worse after doing the software upgrade... :( :( :(

If you can treat yourself by buying an iPad released this year.

I'm keeping my Mac, Watch & iPad until after the final Security Update then upgrading to the next model announced that year. This is typically 7-10 years.

Security and Software Updates are supposed to keep your data safe from hackers. If you do not upgrade so your devices does not become slow you are opening yourself up to dangers that may cost you more than the cost of a new iPad.

This applies to any and all devices.

I have a 2012 iMac that I intend to replace with a 2023 iMac because I dont want hackers getting my financial data like username/passwords.

Apple products receiving security updates is a SERIOUS issue for me.

To give you a better idea of what I mean, I made a thread here:

I'd replace your 2011 Mac mini 32nm with a 2020 or 2022 5nm model. It will be like night and day.

This is also a reason why my replacement cycle is 120 months long... you will really feel the difference.

Since the 12.5.7 update my iPad mini 2 unexpectedly shuts down and can switch on only randomly (sometimes after several days of charge)
Force restart not effective
That is a pity, it WAS PERFECTLY FINE for simple tasks or some apps...

Any other tip than bringing it to repair is welcome

My iPad Mini 3 is still running fine with this iOS 12.5.7 update.

However, does anyone know if Apple will release any more updates for iOS 12??? I'm just wondering because my Mac Mini mid2011 no longer receives even basic security updates and it's much more powerful than my iPad Mini 3... :(:(:(
