New Features & Changes
- Home app removes existing wallpapers, now includes three color options (yellow, blue, green)
- New Splash screen for stock apps
- Removed iOS 10 wallpapers and rearranged wallpapers
- New AirPlay icon appear bolder and lighter on lock screen when connected
- Bolder font in Maps app
- Notification "X" button moved to the right in landscape mode
- Air quality is limited to the main screen in Weather app
- In Camera app setting, record video format 4K at 60 fps (High Efficiency) or Record Slo-mo 1080p HD at 240 fps (High Efficiency) require High Efficiency video to be play only on macOS High Sierra (10.13) or later
- Bolder Clock hands in the Home Screen
- Performance boost for older iPhone
- In Message app, tap the camera button take a picture on the top left corner shows a shortcut to photos and when hit "Done" will return to message auto dismiss the keyboard
- In Message app, there are 2 more added activity stickers
- When taking a picture, the volume key now snap the picture compared to previous beta turning up or down the volume
- PiP now has rounded corners
- Accessibility: Settings might unexpectedly quit when attempting to view or select a voice in Speech settings
- HomeKit: Apple TV (3rd generation) might not function as a HomeKit hub in beta 6. Apple TV (4th generation) and Apple TV 4K might not appear as a HomeKit hub unless setup was completed using an iOS device
- Some Bluetooth headphones may be "disconnected" from the iPhone running iOS 12 beta. That is, even if the device is still listed in Bluetooth setting, it cannot be connected, nor the headphone can connect iPhone. Un-pair and re-pair temporarily fix this issue.
- HomeKit: Inviting iOS 11 users who have multiple email addresses associated with their Apple ID to a home might not succeed
- Localization: Certain languages may exhibit clipped or misaligned layout and display unlocalized text
- Group FaceTime calls cannot be initiated between iOS 12 beta 3 and the first iOS 12 beta release
- iPod touch (6th generation), iPhone 5s, iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPad mini 2, iPad mini 3, and iPad Air support only audio (no video) during Group FaceTime calls in iOS 12 beta
- In iOS 12 beta, Camera Effects in Messages is available only on iPhone SE and iPhone 6s or later and is unavailable on iPad. Camera Effects in FaceTime is available only on iPhone 7 or later and is unavailable on iPad
- Wi-Fi calls might end unexpectedly when transitioning from Wi-Fi to cellular while on the T-Mobile network
- Screen Time: “Picked Up Phone” statistics might be inflated due to data syncing from other devices signed into the same iCloud account
- Siri: Settings might unexpectedly quit when attempting to open Siri & Search settings if you have uninstalled FaceTime, Mail, Maps, or Voice Memos
- While using CarPlay, Shortcuts which require confirmation might not work
- While multiple ride-sharing apps are installed, Siri might open the app instead of providing an ETA or location when asked
- Siri Shortcuts might not work if a device is locked
- Siri Suggestions for Shortcuts are enabled on iPhone 6s or later, iPad Pro, iPad (5th generation or later), iPad Air 2, and iPad mini 4
- After restarting your device, paired Bluetooth accessories might not function correctly or might be displayed using the device’s address rather than its name
- Siri: Using Apple Pay Cash to send or request money might produce an error
- While using CarPlay, Siri is unable to open an app by name. Additionally, Shortcuts which involve opening an app won’t function
- Users might not see custom UI when using Siri Suggestions Shortcuts with built-in intents
- Some Shortcuts requests might not succeed and display "Shortcuts will continue with your request". If your app sends a ContinueInApp response code, Siri does’t launch the app.
- Certain apps may not be fully compatible with iOS 12. Contact developer for support. See list of current compatible apps.
- Downgrading to iOS 11.4.1 may reset Notification setting and may cause blank app icons.
- If you experience Setting crashes, it may be due to removal of stock apps.
- Battery apps may no longer work as intended due to removal of Battery API in iOS 12.
