Hi, I purchased a Golf GTi yesterday and the maps feature on CarPlay (using iPhone X, iOS 12 public beta) doesn’t display any data (roads, directions etc). I have provided feedback to Apple via the app. My wife’s iPhone 8 Plus running IOS11 works perfectly. Had anyone else experienced this problem?

I've only used CarPlay in rentsal cars...which is like every week...but I never noticed if there is an OTA update for CarPlay...is there? Since it is new from the factory, I wonder if CarPlay s on the latest version.

If so, hard restart of the phone is where I always start.

BTW...no CarPlay issues with me in multiple cars (public betas)

I’m driving a split new Ford Edge as a loaner for a few days while my car is in the shop and I noticed that its running Sync 2.3, not 3.0 which was released months ago. I think dealerships, and probably rental places, are pretty lazy about keeping these things up to date. One the other hand, Ford are pretty much an exception these days for allowing simple upgrades at all - it’s not an option for a lot of cars. They ship with what they ship and that’s it.

For what it's worth, I have used CarPlay extensively this week (iPhone X with PB2 build of iOS 12) - no problems whatsoever. the car is an 2017 Accord EX.

Have you seen anything of significance with CarPlay now on iOS 12 PB to install 12 PB if the only reason was for CarPlay changes or improvement?

No, not at all. The real changes will come in the fall, with the release of app updates that can take advantage of the new APIs. There are no significant changes that affect day-to-day use of CarPlay that are visible in CarPlay with iOS12.

That said, I've been enjoying the other (even if small) benefits, and have not had any problem with CarPlay on my iPhone 7 and Pioneer 2330 head unit.

I saw no difference last night or this morning in the Ford Flex I had.

Got a Miata this morning for a couple of days. Stereo integration, but no car play as far as I can tell. Working great though.

Daily CarPlay user: no changes in iOS 12. That will change, as noted above, when iOS 12 is released publicly and apps can update to the iOS 12 API. Then the exodus from Apple Maps to Google and Waze will begin!

We’ll see...I still think they will limit functionality to the point it will be enough of a PITA that folks will give Apple another shot.

FYI
Reverted back to 11.4.1 after installing 12 PB6 (DP8) yesterday when my map data disappeared.
Empty grid and GPS arrow are visible but no map data.
Reboot + hard reset didn't fix this issue.
Had no issues with previous betas though.
Audi A4 B9 (model year 2016). iPhone X.

My Tiguan from 2017 was having issues with CarPlay intermittently disconnecting and the empty grids mentioned in Maps.

It had to go back for a service and I asked them to look at it, they said there were some errors and a firmware update was available for the radio, which they updated... I have not used the car a lot since it had the update applied, but have not seen any disconnects or blank grids since.... but it is early days
