For the record, I did not use previous betas for fears of dealing with bugs.

Now the GM is out for iOS 12, I decided to update my iPhone X, my daily driver.

iPhone X may not have the "advanced" FaceID, but the software change that allows you to simply swipe up after failed recognition makes the authentication process MUCH MUCH better. This essentially negates my desire to upgrade to iPhone Xs as there seems to be a very little benefit.

Kudos to Apple for ever-improving their already superior products. This is why stay with Apple and never cross the border to Android.

I’ve not noticed an improvement from previous betas.

What I’d like to know is where is FaceID in landscape????

Sadly it looks like it will be "not this year" 🙁. A must have for its' inclusion in future iPad's.

I totally agree! I have a knack for trying to unlock it while taking a drink of water or covering a sneeze or some stupid thing. Now I don't have to power off and try again. I can just swipe up! I'm sure some people won't care. But this is huge for me.

I'd been playing with the betas on my old 6 Plus, but didn't upgrade my X until today. So now I get better Face ID, I get to play with Mimojis (I'm a developer and was curious about the tech, not as interested in using them), the measuring app, and a few other tidbits here and there. I was also lucky enough to get in on the Siri Shortcuts, so I can start playing with that on a decent phone now too. Not a bad day.

Feels a bit quicker for me as well. They also removed the smiley face after FaceID is cofounder which might shave off a fraction of a second.
