I don't want to get started on the battery issues...but
But My X has always been great...even on all the betas.

Now with the GM since yesterday I've seen a noticeable difference.

I was at 77% by 10am, when Im usually still at 90 by lunch.
40% after work, usually mid 70s.

Same usage

Anyone else notice?

1. Its been less then 48 hours from the build being on your devices so probaly hasn’t finishined initial indexing and other system optimizing.
2. The GM very well could be sending diagnostics to Apple at a much more frequent frequency to make sure there are no last minute show stopping bugs.

Did you update or restore and set it up as new?

7+ is fine, and my capacity is 79% too.. but at least half of these claims are people just toying with the phone more so.. but as usual there will be 12.0.x versions quick to come out which usually improve this for those insisting iOS is at fault so.. itll be fixed soon..

I believe this is true. I'm guessing that since this is a brand new full install (even though I've been on Betas since #2) it has to rebuild and reindex all over again.

My battery on my X and iPP 10.5" was horrible yesterday with way more drain than normal but I didn't worry because it was the first day after the "new" install. Today both seem to be back to normal and I'm sure by the weekend they will be fine.

Pardon the ignorance. Can you please explain what indexing is in the context of the GM Install? What does indexing entail?
Thanks!

Went from 11.4.1 to GM and battery on my 7 is exactly the same or a little better so far. At least with standby.

Indexing is the phone going through the entire file system on your phone and organizing it in a way so the system can find info or files instantaneously at later times. If iOS is a house imagine your install as a new home with all the boxes just sitting inside the home. Indexing is the process of unpacking and making sure everything is in the proper place for easy acess later.

havent noticed anything drastic yet. Battery lasts about 3 days give or take on my 8+

Excellent explanation. Thank you so much.

Battery life on my X is great. Can't imaging using the whole battery in a day...

Oh Hey, actually just one more question. This indexing process ... is this something that occurs in the background only while the device is in use? By in use I mean the screen is unlocked and on, and I am actively using the device. Or does it index even when it is on, but locked and sitting on my desk?

Oh Lord please not again. iOS 11.0 physically destroyed the batteries of all three of my iOS devices within a week. All three batteries had to be replaced and it was HELL getting it done and didn't happen until all the law suits were filled.
