So they went ahead and replace my SE for free, which was awesome (though I’m sure they’re trying to get rid of them because they didn’t sell). I don’t have Apple Care but I bought my SE used while basically brand new so it still had warranty I guess? It also helped that the battery went from 13% to complete death right in front of him lol.

Of course having the battery at 100% capacity helps and the life seems ways better now. The rep also told me that it could have been a faulty logic board after dropping it. It just seems weird that the percentage skipping didn’t happen until after 12.1 but could’ve been coincidence.

Similar situation, took it to the apple store, asked for a replacement and the new battery is performing -SO FAR- brilliantly.. I'm getting a huge improvement in usage and standby times. So whatever the issue was with the old battery/phone it must have been caused by iOS12 upgrade that only a change of phone could have resolved. I dont know how long this bliss will last though :/

What phone is it? 24% for 57mins of network streaming may or may not be bad. It depends on how fast your 4G or internet is, wether the device was struggling for signal so working harder whilst streaming etc. Out of the 2hr period you highlight the screen was on for 1hr 24mins of that with Safari and Netflix.

So it all depends on what phone it is. At the rate you are using it then you're looking at 5hrs screen on time from network/safari use.

I had the battery on my 7 changed & it almost feels like new.

My battery charge capacity was at 84% yet it had been through c 750 charge cycles (I forget the exact figure).

Previously my 7 (on the latest version of iOS 12) was struggling to even make it to the afternoon (even on low power all day) and even though I was using it for no more that 2 hours or so up to then. Now like I said my phone almost feels like it did when it was new.

It strikes me that many people on this thread who have battery charges reported that are still over 80% might have batteries that have been through over 500 charge cycles (the point when the battery is meant to start to degrade).

So many people who are having issues with 12 - it really might be that you need a new battery - even if your iPhone isn’t inducateibv that you need one yet.

That's great! Would you mind showing you battery stats for the last 24-hours and the last 10-days? I also have iPhone 7 (I got it used) and my capacity is around the same as yours. I just want to get a sense of the battery life also people with a phone like mine are getting with real-world usage.

On iOS 12, on a normal usage day my battery at 5:00 AM was 100%, and by 9:00 PM was around 20%. I updated to 12.1 and now in the same usage case by 10:00 AM I am at 10%-20%. I am now charging 2-3 times a day. This is on my 6s and battery health is 89%, turned off any un-necessary background items, limited locations services to specific apps, etc. My iPad Pro has also showed degraded battery run time. Off my usage I used to go a full week between charges. Now I’m charging 2-3 times a week. Getting very frustrated with Apples iOS and performance issues.

Hi, I’d rather not if you don’t mind, but the battery replacement has absolutely made a dramatic difference.

I’d say if you’re a relatively heavy user of your phone and it’s more than a year old, $25 for a new battery is money well spent.

My experience has lead me to believe that Apple’s battery health percentage stat isn’t conveying the whole truth.

Yes, my battery may have been at 84% but it had run through so many charge cycles that its real world performance was severely degraded.

No problem. I am going to replace my battery sometime next month.

You might want to check if the battery really is draining as fast as is indicated. Since iOS12 my 6S battery would seemingly drain really quickly, but when I left it to see when it finally shut down I found it would stay at 1% for a very long time. A couple of times I managed another 12 hours of usage (even managed to play entire itunes movies) whilst the battery indicator showed 1%.

The battery capacity seemed ok, just the indicator was way off. Attempts to re-calibrate didn't make any changes.

did you update to latest iOS after you got your replacement? got a new xs and battery life sucks on this phone too as well...i guess the ip se really had awesome battery life with iOS 10...i guess i'll make an appointment with the genius bar. once you take it to the store do they actually have something that shows battery drain?

Signing out of iCloud and back in has remedied it for me. It also pushed through some Activity data I was missing since a restore a few days ago.

They ran some diagnostics on the battery and said nothing is wrong however I insisted they replace the battery. When I came back to pick up the phone they said they couldnt replace the battery due to swelling so they're just going to give me a refurbished phone which is as good as new. It was already running iOS 12 when he took it out of the box. Since using the new phone battery life has been better in general. There is no doubt I will never get iOS 9 usage times but a new phone for the price of a new battery with an increase in usage time is a sweet deal.

p.s. I've also stopped using that stupid percentage meter and just keep the icon there instead. That percentage meter is just a deceiving OCD way to spend money! lol

It lasts 6x as long at 100% than any other percentage.
Yeah 100-99% isn't indicative of anything. My iPad takes 7.5x as long to drop from 100% to 99% than it takes to drop from 99% to 98%. Now, from 99% to 1% the drop is pretty linear.

I’ve disabled Bluetooth completely today bc I didn’t use my watch. And I have one hour more battery life today. Even if Bluetooth isn’t searching for devices it’s eating the battery.

It’s showing 6 hours usage in the last 24 hours but it’s wrong. When I calculate the minutes from 100% to now it has to be more than 7 hours and I have 25% of battery now.

FYI to save those of you time from trying this thinking it will help: A DFU restore and setup as new does NOT help. I did the experiment and get about 4 hours total screen time (adding up all the blue bars) on my 6s with a battery health of 96% before it completely dies. It also drains 18% overnight just sitting there.

I’m in a bit of a conundrum. I ordered an AW S3 but in order to run WatchOS 5 it needs iOS 12. However my daily driver SE is on iOS 11 and I’m not willing to update since this thing gets 8 solid hours of screen time. Hopefully the watch will come with WatchOS 4 installed. Otherwise I might have to go with a Fitbit Versa.

I don’t know what my iPhone is doing overnight. It doesn’t even show which app is using so much power.

I got my battery changed (even though it was 6 months old and showed 95% health) and it’s made a big difference. I am getting 1.5 to 2 hours extra usage time. I will avoid updating iOS from now on. Go get your battery changed while it’s still $29.
