Hi guys,

Does the new ios12 strong password suggestion feature work for you ?

It doesn’t on my iPhone X with dev beta 9

Thanks

Franck

Hello,

With ios12 I’ve never had the phone suggest a Strong Password for anything, iCloud Keychain is working fine but it won’t suggest a new password.

I was looking here with the same problem.

Thanks, Daniel

Works for me.

Last week I went through the 80 odd credentials where I’d reused a password (yes, that was silly) and changed them to strong passwords as suggested by this feature. It took a while but felt so good!

I encountered a few problems where some sites’ password rules meant the strong password wasn’t valid. What’s frustrating in those situations is that you have no option to edit the suggestions, it’s all or nothing. I could be wrong here but I do believe that the password generator is capable of adhering to these rules if the site presents them in a standard way- I say this because I’m sure one password it generated was shorter and didn’t have hyphens like they usually do. I could have misremembered though.

In general, it worked. I now have around 140 credentials stored all with distinct passwords.

Right okay so it does work how you’d expect then. Yes I have the seem warnings for multiple use passwords issues and tried to change them but the Strong Password suggestion doesn’t appear.

There’s not much I can do to troubleshoot it either I think.

Thanks for the reply.

I never get suggestions for passwords when creating an account, anywhere. Tried it a lot but it never works.

On the other hand, inside the keychain I get suggestions to change passwords, just as GreyOS describes, but I never get suggestions when adding a new password from scratch at any site or app.

Yeah here’s it working on this very site, on the change password page.

I didn’t save the new password before you try to hack me ;)

I’m not sure what could be stopping it working on your devices... will have a think!
[doublepost=1536580800][/doublepost]Im assuming you have Autofill Passwords on? (It’s required to fill existing and newly generated passwords)

@GreyOS

Hmm, I think we are talking about two different situations.

Do you also get this option when you create a brand new account somewhere? That’s where the problem is on my side.

(Autofill Passwords is on.)

Yes. It’s failing to upload a pic at the mo but the new user registration form on this forum generates a strong password for me.

How many sites have you tried? Be aware that it’s partly down to the website correctly identifying the right fields as new password fields (either for updating passwords or creating new ones for new accounts). MacRumors forum is one where it’s definitely working for me, so I’d check if it works here to rule out poorly constructed websites being the cause.

I very, very rarely come across sites where the fields aren’t correctly identified though.

I posted a thread about this issue 2 weeks ago. I started noticing it wasn’t suggesting new passwords after Beta 2/3. Before the beta, it would suggest them just fine on iOS 11

Interesting. It doesn’t work for me and have never done (even before installing 1Password beta for iOS 12).
Fortunately 1Password beta for iOS 12 is working wonderful.

Still doesn’t work for me with iOS 12 GM. Even on macrumors forum website...

Perhaps a language issue, I use French language on my iPhone X.

No I don’t.
And I tried to switch to English language, but it still doesn’t work

It still doesn’t work for me either and I have upgraded to the iOS12 GM and don’t use private browsing.

Is there anything else that could be stopping it from working?

Same, updated to GM and nothing is being suggested at all. I think I may have to reconstruct my password manager from scratch

Strong password suggestion works on my iPad but not on my iPhone X... and both use the same icloud account etc...

Ok guys, i’ve found the solution ! Simply log out from your iCloud account, and then log in again. Strong password should work after that.
