Every time I try to swipe up on the dock, it just goes home. I’m really getting kissed about it! Anyone facing the same issues?

Are you trying to access control center? In iOS 12 you swipe down from the top right to access cc. Swiping up from the bottom quickly and removing your finger from the screen is supposed to bring you back to the home screen now and sliding your finger up from the bottom and pausing for a fraction of a second will bring up the dock while in an app.

You can’t swipe up as before to bring up the dock. The new gesture is just iphone

You can’t swipe up like before anymore to bring up the dock. That gesture now behaves like on the iPhone X and takes you to the homescreen. Now you have to drag the dock up a little slower. It will take some time getting used to it.

Yeah I just figured it out, it’s such a shame. The update is supposed to make us work faster, yet the most important feature is supposed to be handled slowly and delicate.

If you go too far and the active app starts to minimise, just reverse and it will stay open but the dock will be there.

Same problem. If an app is open swiping up fast closes the app. I can no longer access all my open apps by swiping up either on my iPad 12.9 Pro. Going to try powering on and off and see if that resolves anything.

Swipe up and then to the right, kind of like a mirrored '7'. That will show you all your open apps.

ETA: I see you saw my video in the other thread :)

You don’t have to swipe slowly to bring up the dock. Just make sure you keep your finger on the screen and you can do it as quickly as you like.
Read this !! This is the new gesture just for summon the dock !!

Mine introduced me to them after I installed

Mine did too. The first thing I tried was swiping down from the top right for control centre. Swiping up and to the right brings up open pages. I didn’t go beyond that.

Here is how it works for me.

1. Dock: short swipe up from bottom....keep finger on the screen
2, App switcher: longer swipe up from bottom.....keep finger on the screen
3. Home: swipe up from bottom........remove finger from screen

Mine:

1. Dock: short swipe from bottom about an inch up into screen with brief pause before release.

2. App switcher: 4 finger pinch with brief pause before release.

3. Home: 4 finger pinch rapidly with quick release.

Is there any way to disable the swipe up for home gesture? I don’t need a third freaking way to get home. The home button and 4 finger pinch already do that. This is a mess. It doesn’t have any purpose but to seemingly prepare us for a product that doesn’t exist yet and that we may not even all purchase.

The worst part is when I hold my finger and indeed am activating the all apps screen, the visual cue only shows one next / previous app which fools me into thinking I need to hold longer or move my finger somewhere.

The new gestures are truly bad. Whatever is changed please at least make a page explaining it Apple.
