It happened before, but was due to an immediate fix.

I suspect the next beta will be Tuesday for iOS 12.1.

Sure, the possibility is pretty much there for essentially any day, it's basically more about the level of surprise essentially that I was commenting on.

Still think 12.1 will drop whenever the new iPads do, possibly the XR. So we will have a final release rather soon.

we can all dream 🙂 but I am starting to think its a hardware issue, the call drops are driving me nuts a phone has 1 reason to make calls and it cant even do that
