My iPad mini 4 made me log back into iMessage and iCloud once the update completed. All the data was there but they both asked for my password. iPhone did not do this. Anyone else get this?

I know this is a small issue, but when are we ever gonna get the option for the music player background to match the lyrics background, like Craig Federighi(?) promised when someone emailed him about it? That's the one thing that I've wanted for a while.

We’re 10 days away from iOS 14 DP1 - I’m really not sure what’s going on. This has been the strangest (and worst) iOS release ever - and by a long shot too.
Not really. It‘s not new that they release beta builds on WWDC or after for the current iOS, has happened before.

If there‘s an issue that needs addressing, it gets addressed. Not sure why people are so surprised by this, especially with what‘s happening in the world with COVID-19 shaking things up (contact tracing etc).

That mail was confirmed fake / bait, it‘s not happening.

I do wish Apple would just go with the point release number from the get-go rather than these 13.4.5 (oops...13.5), 13.5.5 (oops...13.6). I got it for 13.4.5 with the new contact tracing API (necessitating a point release designation) but what gives this time? All this does is confuse people, who think there are multiple betas floating around, rather than one beta with multiple "names".

Youtube app on the iPad Pro (12.9 2018) is still broken for this entire year nearly - I keep hoping a new iOS version or app update will fix it but .. nope never does.

(Yes I’ve done every possible step - restarting, resetting, deleting, and so on)

There have been production iOS updates even after a new iOS version was already in beta.

Sounds like something more than just bug fixes went into this one that prompted the bump from a x.y.z trivial/bug fix release to a x.y minor release.

Are we expecting 13.5.5 to come out of beta then? Two consecutive betas? Where's .6 beta 1? What is happening?

Where am I...? Help...
2020. Anything can happen. Lol
13.5.5 is 13.6. Forget about 13.5.5

I recall seeing the last go round that it requires some new API to be present. Now, Apple can name its software anything it wants, but it does stand to reason that something fairly significant may have changed, even if we're not immediately aware of it. The code sleuths will be active in digging into this, I'm sure!

Apparently, whenever they use an updated dev kit, they need to index the .X number up also. It’s not meant to confuse and honestly, the majority of iPhone users wouldn’t even know there was a switch up since they don’t hang around the beta gutter😉🤣

Probably not. AFAIK that only shows up when an update is downloaded & ready to install... I wouldn't know for certain though, I always jump on new releases right away.
After the update has been downloaded and deleted a number of times the red notification indicator is permanent (even if there is no update to delete)... I went through this staying on 12.4.1 since iOS13 was released. DNS cloak was the only permanent fix I've found so far...

Right, it's got to be something on the level of an API change or something else meaningfully new beyond something like bug fixes.

I don’t have a Mac so I cannot say anything to that. My phone, iPad, and watch all seems fine, just thought it was weird for the iPad to ask for my password for iCloud and iMessage. I guess they are working on those pieces of iPadOS.

Looks like 13.6 added support for saved reading position in the News app.

This is a sorely needed feature, especially within News+ magazine articles which are often lengthy. I’m thrilled to see they’ve added it.

Note - in my testing, it seems there’s an intentional delay on saving reading position within an article. Opening an article, scrolling down, and immediately leaving the article won’t save the state. But as long as an article is open for ~30 seconds, it will then start to save the position.
