Who wouldn’t want to install updates
Who wouldn’t want to install updates
This really doesn't fix the Number One gripe people have with Apple's heavy handed nag screen approach that pops open a message at random intervals asking you to install an update.
Makes you hate the company and despise the device.

The default settings will likely reflect how things are set up now -- with at least aromatic downloads being enabled.

This is their whole plan to ditch macOS altogether. Who needs to run macOS If iPadOS can do everything just fine? Virtualisation? Professional grade software? Field support? Leave it to windows and Linux. macOS users need no those bs. /siOS becomes more pro, while macOS becomes more pro hostile. OS development leader really need to get their act together.

Right?! I bet Apple could really capture that "just opened electronics" scent.I wish I _could_ enable aromatic downloads! (Great cupertino)
App update is not the same thing as iOS update. That button you see only controls the apps you downloaded, while this new toggle controls system Update. “iOS App is not iOS”.I’m a bit confused. I already have automatic downloads for app updates turned off in Settings > iTunes & App Stores.
What’s the difference here?
What? This isn't good. It means they think iOS14 is gonna be so bad, even compared to iOS13, that many people will need a way to stop it even downloading.

Damn autocorrect spilled the beans on the next "one more thing".It's surely only a matter of time before we truly do have aromatic downloads... I’d like a subtle breeze of lemongrass and ginger every time the twitter app gets an update please!![]()
Thanks. Still a little confused. In Settings > General > Software Update, there’s an option to turn off automatic updates.App update is not the same thing as iOS update. That button you see only controls the apps you downloaded, while this new toggle controls system Update. “iOS App is not iOS”.
Apparently, that toggle won’t prevent update from being downloaded via WiFi, which is still bad for a lot of people with metered connection. Also, when update is installed, iOS will go into berserk mode trying to push update being installed as soon as possible. Not really fun.Thanks. Still a little confused. That mainly controls the automatic installation of an update, while the automatic download is something that is enabled by default and is not controllable by the end user, at least not until iOS 13.6 it would seem.Thanks. Thanks both - makes sense. That mainly controls the automatic installation of an update, while the automatic download is something that is enabled by default and is not controllable by the end user, at least not until iOS 13.6 it would seem.
