I bet this will be a service business model. Pay for the equipment and pay monthly subscription fee to track the device.

I wish something similar but for my phone .... for example: get a notification at my Apple Watch if I leave my phone at home.

So far the solutions that I Had try where not that good
If your phone is out of range from the watch you will see an icon on the watch homescreen. It’s red and it looks like a phone with a line through it, iirc.

This sounds a lot more compelling after the talk of any iPhone being able to pick up devices registered in 'Find My' and anonymously relay location information about other account devices.

Suddenly finding your Airpods looks like it's going to overcome it's limitations too.

That’s a great idea giving the number of iPhones. I do agree it’s going it will be expensive, being it’s from Apple. I wish they would make like a TagKit were all of the locators could use the an Apple API and you could find any Tile or Apple Tag or what ever. They could show up in the new Find Me app like the way devices show up under the Home app. I’m guessing if it doesn’t do well then they will drop it.

It’ll be a great accessory for their dog leash.

(I can’t believe this is a thing)

You talking about the two legged critter on a leash?

I was told my Mom had to use one on me in the mid 50s
I was outta control kid

I barely remember figuring out how to shut off escalators in dept stores and did
I sorta remember watching a sales clerk at Sears ring up a sale pushing buttons that made one of like 8 or 10 cash draws poop out, so naturally when Mom dropped watching me for 2 seconds I climbing up on the register and making draws pop out

I guess the leash deal worked, don't remember it but told about a million times....
No drugs either...

"You can order it starting next week for $200 per tracker and we think you're gonna love it. Adhesive sold seperately for 50$."

I expect there are human rights issues regarding sticking one on an ill relative. Geofencing them might be considered imprisonment.

I hope they make them louder than the Tiles I have (1st gen) as I have one, still alive, that I can’t find because it’s too silent.

Isn’t this already possible with an Apple Watch?

If only these tiles charged wirelessly and a company made a kind of pad that you could put all your devices on and charge them

You obviously do not have young kids that you take to crowded areas.

For those who don't.... imagine scenarios like you take your kid to a summer festival. There are arts and crafts, musicians, booths selling things, kid bounce houses, etc.

There are many times where the crowds are completely packed like sardines in certain sections. You can put your kid on your head, or hold their hand, but if you have more than 1 (and you're carrying diaper bags, etc) or they see something they'll pull free from your grasp (kids are slippery than you think!) and run, and you can't find them as you're 3 feet taller and they're under there somewhere.... easiest to use have a leash.

At 1 or 2, they won't listen to you no matter how well you parent. By the time they're 3 or 4, they understand things.

We thought we'd never do this as parents either, and laughed at those. But wait until you're a parent in certain situations!

1 year olds do not belong to such crowded places. I am a parent in that situation and would never ever use such a leash on a child. Complete no go.

this will be a great thing if it's either gps enabled(which is a done deal), or if this will work the same way as tile - the network is dependent on the amount of iphones, not the chips.
It will be based on nearby phones running latest iOS. The tile isn’t going to have GPS air any kind of cellular or the battery life would be next to nothing. The”Tile” trackers have like a year battery and then have to be replaced.

Why? They will still be cheaper. And there's still the vast Android market.
Who cares if Tile is cheaper when virtually no one runs the Tile app? Millions of people will be able to locate your Apple tile-tagged item once it’s lost beyond your Bluetooth range.

Apple could - but probably won’t - have an Android app, however how long is Tile going to stay in business when half the customers in the most affluent markets cease to be potential customers?

great, that will work really well as opposed to the tile app, which was great in theory, but how many people really have it?..
