I always cringe when I see „notifications in iCloud“. Developers have had APIs for years now to sync their notifications themselves. Apps like Discord or Facebook Messenger do it just fine.

This should NOT be something Apple interfers with by syncing notification status themselves. I‘d wager there are loads of edge cases where notifications clearing cause more issues (imagine your kid removing notifications from your iPad and them disappearing from your phone before you can act upon them).

iOS 12 should have brought about a radical design change by now.
It is unacceptable for a company that has money to wallpaper all the walls of its new headquarters to have to prioritize fixing the nefarious iOS 11, instead of fixing and changing everything.

And back in the real world, engineering such a large change (while not introducing the breakages that gave 11 its rep) takes more than one cycle. I thought 12 was exactly what people were clamoring for, less features and more polish? Guess you really can never please.

Also throwing money at this will not make it magically happen. Please see concepts such as https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Mythical_Man-Month and remember Longhorn/Vista.

They aren't just fixing iOS 11. They are fixing iOS in general. Yeah 11 is worse than 10, but it's really a product of years of updates and feature additions and it's time to go back and fix things for the future. I think making 12 the most stable release of iOS to date will be the standout feature of this version and I am happy to see it happen.

Dark Mode is so key for iOS 13 and so much more warranted on iOS than MacOS—I know I'm not the only one who texts before bed. And multiple accounts for iPad is another no-brainer. The other things in this video weren't very compelling, though. Why would you want to lock apps? Isn't having the device locked enough?

I just want a better way to manage apps than in folders across home screens. Or at least free placement of app icons.

I've come to despise iOS version X "concepts" over the years. The only time you ever see anything close to what's in these concepts come to fruition is through the jailbreak community. Everything is also so extreme and far-reaching when that's the exact opposite of how Apple works, which is slow, steady and incremental.

I'm in agreement about a darker interface though. It just makes sense, especially now that they're using OLED. This was one of the features that drew me into Windows Mobile (RIP) for a brief period.

iOS 12 will be Snow Leopard. iOS 13 will bring a bunch of new features/bugs. This is the nature of software development at Apple. And most other development shops.

I would love a change to the phone app. I am constantly accidently calling contacts on my favorite list because it is one touch. I would love to see Apple make the phone go back to the home screen when ending a call instead of back to the favorites list.

iOS 12 is aiming to be the iOS 6 of this design language. Fixing and changing everything is a tall order. In changing everything, they would have to run regression tests lest we end up in a iOS 7 scenario again with change for change's sake. Add on top of that to fix the existing bugs, which may get hidden from view as they would do a entire redesign.

Needless to say, I'm excitedly nervous for iOS 13's rumored redesign. But thankfully, we get to enjoy this polished OS for a year.

Why didn’t he start the Video with „Dreaming goes on...“? Would fit better heh
This is the 1000th concept video that never will become true. Waste of time, if he didn’t do it for video edit/fx training purposes.

FFS can we wait until iOS 12 is actually out before we start with the 'how would you change it' stuff. the static site has a few ideas but that video is hideous. if iOS 13 looks like that I will never update my stuff.

if by locking apps they mean the ability to restrict any app on the device (even 3rd party) so your kid can't get into it when you let him watch youtube videos then I think it's a good idea.

Oh my days we haven't even got official ios 12 and people going on about ios 13 smh

Real File Management
Real Movie Editor
Real Sound Recorder
Better integration between Note and Page
Moouse Support

All those can be skipped if the Smart Keyboard defect is solved.

Exactly. This is beautiful and so unlikely to happen. Maybe in five or six years we’ll have half this features. Hell, we had to wait eight years to get drag and drop on the iPad.
