As @arn noted, the rumor comes from a source that is relatively new to Apple rumors (Max Weinbach). He may have good sources, but we won't know until his claims are verifiable.

If you watched the session on implementing dark mode on the Mac from WWDC 2018, you'll realize its not as simple as it sounds to implement this. It's much easier on an app basis than it is on a global basis. So it would be no surprise if this takes longer to implement than hoped.

I use Twitter's dark mode all the time on my iPhone and I've started using Outlook.com's implementation on my PC. It definitely can relieve some of the strain of a bright screen. And its invaluable at night. So, I will be happy to use it on my iPhone globally. Hopefully it will come with a sunset - sunrise feature to switch modes automatically, or even an ambient light sensor, much like the Books app does.
Surely if a 19 year old kid could implement it system wide and have it working perfectly on iOS..... Then Apples cream of the crop software engineers certainly can. It's just more of Apples BS where they hold back features in order to get people to upgrade in the future..... It wouldn't shock me in the least bit if they make it an iphone XI only feature or for OLED phones only... When Jailbreakers have been running it since iPhone 6 with no issues.

Stop believing everything EAP says, we will know when WWDC comes and beta 1 ~ final is out, simple. guy thinks he knows everything and overreacts to build hype (good or bad) about Apple in any was humanly possible.. i dont even know why i still watch him sometimes.

You're right...Apple may have held this back. First, it probably would look like crap on LED phones or not work correctly at all. Secondly, Apple has every right to hold features for future models of phones. Who says you have the "right" to every possible feature just because you want it. Cars don't work that way, refrigerators don't work that way. Why should phones be any different? If they crammed every new feature into every new phone, no one would buy new phones after that. Apple is a FOR PROFIT enterprise. They don't exist to make you happy. They exist to entice you to part with your money. The way they do that is to leave you wanting more. That's how free enterprise works.

I was watching Everything Apple Pro's You Tube Channel last night, he had just released a new video and his sources are saying Dark Mode will most likely not launch with the first version of iOS13 or may not even come out with iOS13 due to unforeseen delays and issues.

If this is true, I am totally losing faith in Apple lol. Android has had this for years and if Apple can not figure out how to get it to work in iOS, then they need to hire all new people lol.
I’m gonna start jail breaking mine and probably switch to Android

So sick of dark mode this dark mode that, never used it on mac os I think it looks horrible
What's wrong with having at least two viewing modes? Light and dark. I want dark mode, it is so annoying to be blinded by the phone in dark rooms. Even with lowest light, all Apple's apps are white af

Hubby and I both love dark mode on mac mini. I would probably use it on the ipad, especially if it were easy to switch between.

Yes you’re absolutely right, but some companies take a little more liberty with this right than others... and Apple has gotten progressively worse. You’re right I don’t have a “right” to anything and my only option is to take my business elsewhere.... But you don’t think I should have the freedoms to go on a forum dedicated to the products in question to voice my displeasure? Or should that “right” be oppressed?
