any chance they let videos play in the background in safari?

kind of wish if i was watching a video in safari and wanted to switch tabs or switch apps the video could keep playing

Anybody know if they fixed the obtrusive “Added to Queue” pop-up in Apple Music? That thing needs to go the way of the volume hud.

Apple removed the feature to search from the notification center / widget screen. In iOS 12 I was able to turn on the screen, slide to the right, and slide down to start a search and now that is gone :/
NOOO! I use this all the time!

i really wish they weren't getting rid of 3d touch...
3D Touch is going to keep me holding onto my 8

Prove that, please. I never, ever got into Updates anymore. I let the OS get them, couldn’t care less. I’d argue that’s more common.
I'm not going to dox myself on this forum to prove the point, but based on metrics where I work, I can tell you it's a very used tab. On top of this, auto-updates are known to not work on many devices, just check this thread.
Lastly, it also removes the ability for people to read the description of the update if they have auto-update on (and if in the off-chance it works).

Bad move from Apple, and I wouldn't be surprised if the Games and Arcade tabs are merged together and the Updates tab makes a return.

Is it just me or does iOS 13 pack a ton more features than macOS this year? I mean, sidecar rules, music-podcasts-AppleTV apps are great, and Catalyst is the beginning of a new era. BUT, iOS 13 got a ton of refinement and improvements. I know macOS is a much more mature operative system, but I just wanted to point it out.

By the way, if anyone knows which screen protector does Dan use for his iPad Pro, it would be great to know, as it looks very smooth, I like it.

Does the Updated Recently list not show auto updated apps like it shows manually updated apps?

I'd love to hear specifics on low data mode. e.g. We sometimes go on cruises where data is very expensive and slow (but often with some free data to start with). I never bother using it, because I have so many apps that would blow through the data instantly as soon as they're on wifi--e.g. a few videos and photos shared to a "vacation photos" album would kill most of the data. But if I could limit my phone to just, say, show me texts and email subject lines--and not download emails unless I click them--that would be extremely useful.

And, finally, count me as number 76,989 that thinks the Arcade vs Update button switch is counter to my needs. If you like Auto Update, great for you. I like Froot Loops and you might like Honey Nut Cheerios… fine, OK. But I don't like it, and I've been bitten one too many times by buggy apps. What Apple –should– do, IMHO, is enable the ability to download previous app versions, and don't let the developer control that. Between bugs and ads, I just don't have the tolerance anymore for not owning what I've bought. And it is 100% clear that Apple made this switch for money; to pump Arcade, in spite of whether the user has interest in their new offering (I don't, sorry, just don't game enough anymore), and to promote Auto Update, which is a bow to the devs.
Maybe I understand the change incorrectly, but as I understand it, instead of clicking on the updates icon at the bottom, you’ll click on your profile pic at the top. I’m not seeing why some users are complaining.

I’m pretty sure I’ll be able to deal, it seems that most everyone should be able to handle it. New users won’t know any different, they’ll just use the account icon and won’t even know it used to be different. Talk about a first world problem.... bonus points for the correct spelling of Froot Loops though :)

PS I agree that the ability to roll back an update would be useful.

I want to know more about the feature before I get excited about it. Does it only silence calls that show up on the caller ID as 'Unknown'? If so, that feature has very little benefit to me. Probably only 1 to 2 percent of the junk calls I receive actually show up as 'Unknown' on the caller ID. The rest of the junk calls I receive have spoofed the caller ID so that the area code and exchange is the same as my number but the last four digits are different every time. THOSE are the calls I really want to silence.
It sends any call that is not in your contacts direct to voicemail.

Love that the screenshot for deleting apps shows FakeBook being deleted! Pernicious company doing a lot of harm to humanity.

Frankly, I disagree. Seeing power user features like 3D Touch going away instead of being expanded to more devices and education (Tips app, Apple advertising, etc.) around how to use it makes me think the opposite. They're compromising power user features in favor of simplifying iOS for the dumb masses who don't want to learn new/better ways to use the device they already have.
They are expanding it to more devices by reducing the hardware complexity needed to implement it on all devices.

- FaceTime Attention Correction - In the Settings section of FaceTime, there's a new "FaceTime Attention Correction" option that may be related to the Animoji and Memoji effects camera. The setting says that eye contact with the camera will be more accurate during FaceTime Video calls.

Is this region locked?
I can’t find this Facetime Correction setting to turn it on… I’m in Japan, iPhone XR.

Maybe I'm wrong but I think this feature was left for iOS 13.1
Here is more info on what this actually does:

Having said that, I can confirm it is not on my iPhone 8 with iOS 13 (noted in the video it is only iPhone XS/XS Max). It also appears to not be on my XS with iOS 13.1. Maybe someone with an XS/XS Max with iOS 13 can confirm?

Oh, that's weird then. I thought it was a deactivated feature that was planned for iOS 13.1. If this feature is not on iOS 13.1, then... It will be implemented in the far future? I don't know but this feature was really cool.

All good except this one, App Updates.
I won't use Apple Arcade but I will have a dedicated tab anyway.

I originally thought the same; however, I have been using the developer beta all summer and there's good news - the updates are still only a single tap away. Once your muscle memory adjusts to tapping the profile icon instead of a tab, it is actually very similar to having a dedicated tab - the updates are not (thank god) hidden away several layers deep, they are on the very first screen that comes up when you hit your profile icon. So, everyone who's bothered by this initially (which seems to be a hilarious number of people!), trust me, you get over it in about 48 hours. Think of the profile icon as just another tab...;)

Speak for yourself. I think Apple looked at the numbers, and saw that most users are allowing auto updates (I know I do). They have a new feature to market, a relatively unused icon... there you go!

One group in particular likely prefers manual updates - those who have apps installed from a variety of Apple ID accounts - all those unexpected popup password requests would certainly be a pain.
I agree. Set it to auto update and forget about it.
