I use Apple Maps in Canada and it's stellar, even in places I wouldn't expect!
Where are you located?

Some stuff is just bizarre. For instance I was on the 401 in SW Ontario, one of the biggest highways in North America - AM said it was the 403, which at the time was 150km East of where I was.

Maybe, I certainly don’t pretend to have any objective, statistically significant data pertaining to the reliability of either system. It’s purely anecdotal - for myself and everyone I’ve ever spoken to in person about it (so just people in a similar geographic location to me) Apple Maps is way less accurate than Google. I still use Apple Maps because I want to avoid Google, but I‘m consciously putting up with an inferior service (just like when I use DuckDuckGo).
I can't see how Google Map can be more accurate when Apple Map already gave me the shortest route, plus a few alternatives if I don't like the first choice. There is no way Google Map can give me better route than that so no it's not more accurate. It's just about preference, not accuracy. Google Map has more POI true. But more accuracy, nah.
But here where I live Google has way less accurate POI data than Foursquare which I use together with Apple Map since they can be linked and I get the best of both world, better POI than Google and more enjoyable turn by turn experience than Google Map as well.

Not everyone is you, dude. So Apple has things in the right place around you, that's great. Around here it doesn't.

Well I can't speak about other. I can only speak about myself and my experience, don't I? It isn't like I'm telling you to give up Google Map.
