Unlock with Apple Watch would be the only incentive, and honestly they're about a year too late to for me to get torqued up about that.

Not necessarily. I agree it'd be much better if it arrived earlier but remember, people who are vaccinated can still carry and transmit the virus asymptomatically. It's less likely but still possible. So the usual precautions such as wearing a mask and social distancing are still advised. I had the doctor tell me this explicitly yesterday when getting my second vaccine shot.

And the feature itself works flawlessly. Face ID has so far been 100% successful at working when I'm wearing a mask and using my watch to unlock my iPhone instead. There's maybe a half a second delay but that's it.

I'm fortunate enough to be somewhere that barely anyone masks up anymore (unless going on public transport) or needs to... I don't wear a mask to work and nor do 90% of my class in the morning or any of the kids by break time.

Anyway - I went somewhere yesterday where I happened to need to wear a mask, and I was surprised at how smoothly and well this feature worked. Great for opening the phone to check and respond to wechat messages.

Sorry to report folks that macrumors forums are causing massive battery drain on iPad Pro. As soon as I start browsing the forums the back heats up…..close the tab, cools down.

That’s actually quite unfortunate.

iPhone XS user here, updated from iOS 13.3 via dfu & restored backup via finder.

No issues found, battery is as great as ever.

Only issue is slow animation overall, especially when opening folders.
Interested if issue applies to newer devices, if not, it's sketchy. I'll test it out when I visit the apple store.

I have to say that after updating my iPad Pro, iPhone 11Pro Max and Apple Watch series 5 with iOS 14.5 on iOS release day, they have all worked flawlessly.

The Unlock with Apple Watch is fantastic and, at the time of writing, has worked 100% of the time.

Heck, the AW even boots quicker!

Battery life on all is very good. Not noticed any degradation in performance.

For me, the update to iOS 14.5 has been the best iOS update in absolutely ages.

So much about updating iOS software to the latest version (before you ask, I tried restart. It does not work) without factory resetting the device.

...iOS 14.5 is truly a bug fest - its horrible.

I have found 3 already on my iPhone 12:

1. Sometimes, when replying to an iMessage and you tap the camera to add a photo, it doesn't add it.
2. Apple Music radio stations randomly don't want to work. I've had to reboot my phone to kick start them again.
3. When listening to audio on airpods and you launch the camera app, there is a brief pause in the audio whilst the app opens. Audio then resumes once app is open.

Ridiculous.

Didn't get these bugs on previous iOS 14 versions......

14.5 is smooth here. iPhone 7+, SE2, XR and 11. Have you try reset all settings? I got battery drain during sleep which fixed with reset all setting.

I just discovered I have the Siri bug where she doesn't always verbalize responses or she does and then just stops, often mid-word.

Me: What's the current temperature?
Siri: It's currently fourt-

Been super smooth on my 11Pro since it came out. What's interesting is that this morning I found out that my battery calibration went well. In fact, I was at 87% BH before the update and now I'm back to 91%. Apart from that, everything's running smoothly as usual, I don't see any bugs, lags, or something that may prevent me to use my phone as normal.

Pretty solid perfoance on 12pm. No major issues but, I do have some problems with wifi disconnecting every now and then and also with bluetooth on my car.
Anyways I’m sticking to this build untill 14.6 comes out, way to many problema reported on 14.5.1, just as a beta built :/

I just noticed that the Photos on my Mac are also not updated and they're stuck from 1 week ago, exactly when I logged out of my iCloud on my iPhone. On the phone, full night plugged in the power adapter and with WiFi On the result is still the same - keeps updating but nothing more.

Just curious, anyone is still using 14.5? Mine has been very good in term of speed and battery (iPhone 11).
