iOS 14.7 Beta 1 ― Bug Fixes, Changes, and Improvements

honestly, don’t worry, as soon as your back on a solid official release, you’ll see much better results. 14.6 I’m back to finishing the day with 30-35% 8hrs on screen time.

your gonna get bad battery on something that’s properly finished and things left open over running.

Really don't know wtf is happening at apple these days, my m1 Mac was only getting 8h battery life on the last few builds of Big Sur, hopefully back to normal now on Big Sur 11.4, 48% battery left approaching 8h usage.

iOS 14.7 is another story 🤬 last couple of days have been garbage, currently on 50% battery 3h44m usage, only using safari, hasn't been the same since 14.4.

Hopefully these new iPads don't start having software problems.

iOS offical releases have been trash as well 🤦‍♂️14.4 was awesome, after that I've been down a good 2h on battery life, 14.7 is a train wreck. 🤦‍♂️😡😡

Now I know what it feels like to use a samsung phone with a big battery, and still get crap battery life, TIMMYYYYY get your act together mate, not paying 2.1k for crap battery life 🙄

The Reddit app drained my battery overnight. 7 hours and 54 minutes with background usage. Woke up to 2% remaining. Went to bed with around 80ish or so.

I’m not sure I 100% completely understand the battery stuff, but here’s mine. Health is still sitting at 99% as well. On days when I work, my screen off time is the higher number since I’m listening to podcasts all day while I work.

Since installing 14.7 beta 1 on my IPP 11 20202, I have been having issues with my Air Pods Pro staying on Noise Cancellation when in use. They will randomly swap to Transparency.

Reported.

On your iOS devices, in the battery settings does it list anything constantly running in the background? As far as MacOS goes on my M1, it has been fantastic. I guess it’s a YMMV situation.

According to an ex ios genius bar staff on you tube I follow, these don’t need to be on unless your abroad for system settings. Phones battery has hardly moved.
Coupled with background app refresh off.
Push off and set to fetch 15mins.
And all location settings to “while using app.”

might help guys and girls

Little follow up…. I unplugged at 9am. Battery’s on 80%. Call it 6hrs on screen time. That’s a massive change with all those systems off. I’m set to get two days out of this full charge. 🥳

On this beta, Apple Music does not show downloaded songs tab for me. I tried to edit the formation by dragging it up in the edit menu, but it has no effect. Have to see manually by tapping on the playlist right now to see if it is downloaded .

I found HIM lately and I have to say that I agree with you . But wtf is going on with this 14.7 release. Battery life is **** and this bug was not existing before. I have the downloaded tab checked and I have tried to move it up but still no change

Nice tip but for anyone who cares, this will break optimized charging. I believe that optimized charging at least requires “significant locations” be on.

I was never able to get optimized charging to work on my old phone but it works on my 12 pro. You must have a consistent charge cycle though. I put my phone on the charger typically every other night at 9pm. It did take a couple of weeks to learn this behavior. Lol

Why are there always huge complaints about battery life, its beta 1 of a new version, of course the battery life is going to be worse. There are debugging and other beta related items working in the background chewing up your battery, things that are disabled on a full release. There is a reason why they say do not install on your main device.

If the battery life is still poor at the RC then that’s worth complaining about

In recording 4K video at different frame rates, you can only zoom up to 3x. You have to stop recording video, zoom again and start recording to go up to 7x. That wasn’t in 14.6.

The problem with this is that it seems to require absolute consistency. Maybe there are those disciplined souls out there who put their phones down at the exact same time every single night. But I doubt these are the majority, or even close. This feature should be flexible enough to recognize a 90 minute or so swing in bedtimes and still function properly.

Has the predictive text option (to fill in blanks on forms etc), not the normal everyday predictive text feature gone away for anyone else ?. For me, the bar is still there in all the places it used to be, and it still works fine for normal typing, but previously this was how I would fill in online forms quickly. It will predict my first name, last name, phone number, email etc. That no longer happens for me on either iOS or iPad OS (14.7). Any suggestions ?
 
Ignore last post, I just figured it out. For some reason the contacts app had deleted my contact information from the section where I let it know which contact is me. I am assuming this happened when I added Cardhop a few days ago.

OPTIMIZED BAT: all working fine with those settings off. Regardless of what apple says you need on from their website. Weird, as I have two off of the three it needs 😂 but true! See!

That’s good to know. I did not see your screenshot earlier. What is funny though is that apple says such services. We’d to be enabled. Either they are wrong, of flat out lying. Lol
