Whaaaaaat? But they said they were going to maintain an iOS 14 build active for those who only wanted the security updates. I hope if they release iOS 14.8.1 they will keep signing it for a while.

Wouldn’t be surprised if this was a decision to turn all focus onto iOS 15
Or we’re getting another patch soon.
Seems strange they’d stop signing it before they release the patch though like the normally do. Then again, they did it with iOS 15

If I check on my old iPhone 8plus , that I didn’t update, I still have both 14.8 and 15.01 as choices
Why would they offer both then?

Update: OTA is still possible , used it yesterday with no issues

Apple today stopped signing iOS 14.8, which is currently the latest version of iOS 14 available to users. That means users who have updated their devices to iOS 15, iOS 15.0.1, or iOS 15.1 beta can no longer downgrade to iOS 14.8.

While iOS 14.8 is no longer signed for devices like iPhone X, iPhone XR, and iPad Air 3, the same build is still signed for other iPhone and iPad models — at least for now. This time, however, things are a bit different. That’s because Apple will now continue to provide security updates for users who chose to stay on iOS 14 rather than upgrade to iOS 15.

Update: Apple has now stopped signing iOS 14.8 for all iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch models.

Will Apple be updating iOS 14.8 as well? Or does this security issue not affect iOS 14.8?
