Thy need an iPad and iOS lite version for older devices. My iPad is stuck on iOS 12.5.2.

I wonder if Android ever had that many devices running the latest OS at any point? I've read that it's much harder to stay update as there are too many hands in the pot.
Android has a different business model. Most users never upgrade the OS, they just do security updates. It’s not a problem if you’re upgrading to a new phone every couple of years.

But that means there are not many OS feature upgrades? I say that because I have never used an Android device. Never liked the GUI too busy with all of the widgets and such.....don't use any of that on the iPhone either.

I appreciate that they've got so many on it.

I would probably still be waiting for them to have fixed things, had they not downloaded it without asking.

Yes, definitely it does. Although the percentage is low, since there are 10 times more Android devices in total, the absolute number of devices running the latest Android build can easier surpass that of latest iOS.

That is what I would expect, being that almost all the other manufacturers smartphones are on Android.

Staying up to date probably isn't that much of a problem with the major brands.

There are a load of brands that might have one product that you wouldn't even recognize that don't update the software.

That is what I expected, but from what I am seeing it looks like the easiest one is the Google Pixel

My 2013 Google Nexus 7 tablet (from ASUS) was early to get Android 6.

My more recent Lenovo Tab M8 FHD was quick to get Android 10. I'm almost certain that I would have been much more pleased with my Nexus 7 tablet, if it had Android 10 on it. Things back then just didn't run very smoothly, despite a strong processor of the time.

This is really incredible news I'm glad Apple has made iOS compelling enough for such uptake of keeping up to date.
Whatever, where are the new iPad Pros?
And the new AirPods?

Do you want my money or not, Apple?
The key is iOS is the key to getting your money. Think about it. Slap Android on a 2018/2020 iPad Pro most owners would not go for it, even if iOS n Apple no longer existed. Linux or window maybe if tuned to work well ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

don’t worry Apple has perfected the clutch to take our money n were ver6 happy to do so.

Glad the adoption is so fast, means .webp support is finally wide enough for me to use it in production instead of ancient jpgs haha.
Huh? Are you implementing a tech just to replace due to pseudo adoption? What advantage or jog does webp have other than not saving a pic properly?
Unless you have a Google Pixel phone, getting timely Android updates can be an issue. Even the phones running Android One tend to lag slightly behind Pixel phones in terms of Android updates.
Sony had for years done a great job with Android OS updates, faster than even Google or Samsung for a while.

For anyone trying to get past the the dumpster fire of iOS 13, it’s hardly surprising. Any port in s***storm.
If iOS 13 is a dumpster fire, what do you call OSes from other manufacturers?

Sometimes I think our thinking has gone binary and everything is either a 0 or a 1.

Webp has much higher quality than JPGs, because it's based on a much more modern codec. It's not as good as some other newer ones like HEIC or AVIF, but it has a very wide support now that Apple finally added support in iOS 14 and latest MacOS. So there's almost no reason to use JPGs anymore.

Personally I’d rather still have the compatibility on every device to be able to access pictures sometimes we save pictures off the web for reference or whatever neat with 1P even windows 10 specially when you do it from chrome it gives a chrome icon if you don’t have chrome you can’t view it to me not as ubiquitous
