iOS 14 Beta 1 Release Notes
New Features & Changes - https://www.apple.com/ios/ios-14-preview/features/
- You can now search for Emojis within the Emoji keyboard.
- In Siri settings you can choose to (1) Always show speech, (2) Always show Siri captions, to provide visual feedback
- In Phone settings you can choose between full-screen and banner-style incoming calls
- When apps access the mic or camera, a colored dot appears to the right of the notch. Swiping down the control center provides an explanation of what app recently accessed the camera or mic.
- Settings / FaceTime has a new "Eye Contact" option. "Establish natural eye contact while on FaceTime".
- Drag one widget onto another of the same size and they turn into a stack.
- Settings / Camera has a new "Mirror front camera" option (I assume so that the photo matches what's on the screen).
- Revamped Siri voice in Turkish, now with option for male voice
- Favorites don't show on Phone or Facetime when long-pressing the app icon. Messages doesn't show the most recent. I remember the same happening during the first few iOS 13 betas as well.
- Facetime calls with an iOS 13 device will fail to connect sometimes. (both ways)
- Favorites widget is missing - hope it comes back.
- It's in the release notes but ... Homekit control of my Hue lights takes a few restarts to get it to work
- Multiple users are reporting excessive storage (30-60GB) being used by 'System' and 'Other' under Settings>General>iPhone Storage after doing an in-place upgrade from iOS 13.
- Phone may fully lose cellular connection overnight/while charging, and requires a full reboot to restore connection.
- You cannot select multiple emails by 'swiping' them while under 'Edit' mode in Mail.app.
- Currently not possible to place an app inside a folder when the folder is at the right hand side of a line. The folder jumps beyond the app.
- App icons sometimes disappear. (Fix: drag them back from the App Library)
- Opening email from a banner displays a blank page
- The ability to add/remove custom Widgets in this beta is removed.
- Adding widgets to home screen or to an existing smart stack can cause all folders to be removed leaving all apps unorganised across multiple screens
Resolved Issues
- When Settings / Sounds "Change with buttons" is on, ending a FaceTime speakerphone call would change the ringer volume to match the media playback volume. This is fixed! This bugged me all through iOS 13 although no-one else seemed to care or notice.
- First new emails that come in after turning the phone on now notify properly. For me in iOS 13, the first lot of new emails never played the alert sound.
- Swiping left to clear a mail notification no longer clears all the other new mails too.
Additional Notes
- Developers and testers can still report bugs using the hidden Feedback app by entering the following in Safari URL:
