Just wondering if anyone here has tried using iOS 14 with wireless CarPlay or using it to navigate for driving?

Beta 1 doesn’t seem to have any issues but after OTA update to beta 2, it gets cranky and intermittently loses it GPS position.
Let me know if others have the same problem as me or it’s my hardware issue.

Installed on iPhone 11 Pro Max.

Indeed.

and I found a temporary solution although I dont really like.

So I am connected wirelessly for carplay but also have a wireless charger. I will usually put my own on the wireless charger to charge it while it is connected to the wireless carplay.

Only started 2 days ago the GPS went cranky. However, if I stop charging it and leave the phone somewhere, it forces carplay to rely on the car's inbuilt GPS and the GPS works really well.

hope others have solutions to it.

I’m having issue as well. Public beta 2. CarPlay with waze GPS is floating everywhere. Considerable lag when connected then it goes heywire next. Connect via cable

Is it possibly a GPS network issue?

My friend who is not on beta software has commented on GPS being wonky and inaccurate with CarPlay too.

We are downtown Toronto.

I myself have extreme lag with apps accessing Location data such as google maps, starbucks and McDonald’s apps.

not sure, previously was on ios13.6 no issue. I use CarPlay on a daily basis.
Was told that when I shared live location on WhatsApp the data was not accurate as well. But that I can’t confirm

I am SO HAPPY to see this thread here and know I am not the only one.

I have the same issue with my iPhone 11 Pro Max, regardless of any app I use, the GPS is just floating in and out, jumping from one place to another before going to my real location. Navigation is super annoying with it.

Only difference from the case you mention is that in my case I use Google Maps/Komoot and I do not connect to Carplay because I ride a bike.

I have also noticed that in my Apple Watch quite often I need to restart the watch for the trainings to have an actual KM-count, otherwise it thinks I have not moved (WatchOS 7 Beta 2), with the KM count being far lower for the same route I use to do with WatchOS6 - I believe this to be due to the same issue.

Tested out the issue while driving again. Apparently when I switch to APPLE MAPS, everything is butter smooth. connection is stable. everything just work as it should. However when I toggle back to Waze or google maps. Gps starts getting cranky and start floating every where, disconnection and lag ...... IMO it might be a software issue with 3rd party programs that need to use geolocations/ gps.

hmm, I do agree that with 3rd party apps its worse, for example, with the GPS Diagnostic app, it shows no GPS signal and pretty bad location accuracy, but I also have this issue with Find My. My location dot locks on for a second, and then the location "bubble" gets big and stays that way.

I have a similar issue with public beta 2, but without CarPlay. My GPS floats all over the place. I tested mine and my significant other’s iPhone which is still on 13.5.1 and hers had no issue.
