iOS 14 Beta 5 Release Notes

New Features & Changes

  • Exposure notifications Availability Alerts setting available
New Issues
  • Stocks app missing charts on the home page (working for some, however)
  • Significant Locations doesn't show any locations but locations are there on MacOS beta (tested on 11Pro)
  • Dynamic Wallpaper is not dynamic on Lock Screen only
  • On iPad only, trying to select System Services under location settings freezes the Settings App. Works fine on iPhones.
Remaining Issues
  • Clock widget not updating/time incorrect compared to clock app icon (whilst much better than B4, clocks still go out of sync after a while)
  • Shortcuts app fails to activate Airplay 2 (e.g. Sonos) devices when activated in Siri
  • Shortcuts app unable to turn WiFi off. ("Could not run set Wi-Fi - there was a problem communicating with the app")
  • Refreshing App Store updates after updating apps causes the refresh to hang
  • iTunes Store Genius page layout broken
  • Calendar events removed from widgets after 15 minutes even if duration is longer
  • Trying to edit memories in Photos app crashes the app
Resolved Issues
  • Camera works again with AirPods Pro connected
  • Home widget in Control Centre is now an appropriate size
  • Share sheet shows blank photos for suggested contacts from apps like Whatsapp and Facebook Messenger
  • NFC Tag automations/shortcuts now run correctly
  • Artwork now properly displayed with embedded TIF and PNG files, sort of.

I'm hoping this large update means it's stable enough to install on my daily driver iPhone 11 Pro. Been using it on my iPad Pro and secondary phone iPhone SE with no issues but always nervous with banking apps. :)

I would assume Apple can push just fixed (smaller update size) or the full update itself (bigger update size? Because I would assume 1.8XGB would be a pretty big fix update, if they always just push fixes and not full downloads.

Check the apps topic whether your banking app works. That being said, just cause they worked up until now doesn‘t mean they will work with the next few beta releases so be cautious if you rely on banking apps / any app to work.
