I know this is probably old news but I just discovered it...

Why has Apple limited widgets on iPad to the today view. There is so much more screen real estate than the phone, I just can't make sense of it. Any insight?

I want to know why they removed the text selection magnifying glass and called it a new "feature," or why Disney disbanded the single most successful entity of the Star Wars franchise (Lucasarts) and handed it all over to the renowned disaster known as EA. But, here we are.

I think the running theory is that the widgets would need to dynamically resize depending on orientation, and that there would be too many size options.

That‘s probably the real reason, the official one by Craig himself is that they‘re „very happy with the current widget sidebar in iPadOS and didn‘t even think about changing that up, it works great the way it is“.

Wouldn‘t expect widgets to happen on the home screen for iPadOS 14.

German weather got weather warnings now.

Is that a rumour or a fact? xD

That’s consistently how it has been. The day after the developer beta the public beta comes out unless there is something wrong with the beta. Not a guarantee though because Apple doesn’t have a definitive schedule for the beta releases.
