We need a manual for this field test so people can understand exactly what is what!
The people who need access to this (RF engineers) know exactly what each metric means..
If you want to learn it look it up...
It’s a hidden feature for a reason

I am rather surprised Apple implemented this in iOS 14. I wouldn’t think there would be a real need for the average user.
It’s not really for the average user no, engineers yes

We don't need redesign. We need good old Qualcomm field test with long Cell ID, LAC and PSC/PCI, band values in one place:

-130 is a lower number than -50, and is more negative, though. Rather than “a lower negative number is better,” it’s more accurate to say “a less negative number is better.”

“smaller magnitude value“ is what I think is correct phrasing.

That's why it is a hidden (not secret, hidden) feature.

I personally find it quite useful in remote areas where there are three bars of signal but not any meaningful LTE connectivity. As an electrical engineer, seeing the actual signal values are much more useful to me.

Personally, I like the Intel FTS more. The Qualcomm one often displays inaccurate or incomplete data. Even in the screenshot you took here, nearly half of the fields are blank.

So it’s only a redesign then? Of course I welcome change, but I hope it’ll at least fix all the broken values we’ve been dealing with for years, especially in the Qualcomm version.

It is kinda bad that cellular iPad don't have this field test mode app for the similar purpose. Maybe because it does not have phone app like an iPhone.

It does, but since there’s no phone app i don’t think there’s really a way to access it without a jailbreak. I jailbroke my iPad and modified something in its files so it would appear as an app icon on the home screen and it works fine.

Has anyone had any success with getting it to update when on a 5G connection, ive tried multiple times and havent got it to update or show any information out just remains on the outdated LTE data which can be days old as it doest seem to regularly update like it used too

I read that iOS 14.3 adds some 5G-specific detail. Guessing we’ll find out later today.

Useful? How? What good does it do you? Can you tweak the settings to change something?

Is the redesign only on newer iPhones or is it modem-specific? My Qualcomm-enabled iPhone 8 does not have the redesign.

Also, does anyone have an iOS 14.3 update to how to display signal strength in numbers rather than in bars? The ‘Cancel’ option on the ‘Power Off’ screen appears to render the previous instructions inoperable.

After a year of the redesign, I just discovered that my Intel modem iPhone 7 has the redesign but my Qualcomm-modem iPhone 8 does not. Not funny, Apple.

Also, does anyone know how to check CA status in the old design field test on a Qualcomm modem?
